Personal

Wyatt is a contact hitter with an exit velocity off the tee that averages in the mid-80s (mph).   He has very good speed – as quick as 6.85 seconds in the 60-yard dash – which is a big asset on the base paths and in the field.

Defensively, he has very good range as a middle infielder, and the velocity on his throws across the diamond range in the mid-80s (mph). However, it should be noted that this velocity has been rising recently and should continue to increase before the summer.

Although he has mostly played second base and shortstop, he also has experience in the outfield and at third base and catcher, so he offers a club quite a lot of versatility. Wyatt is a definition of utility player – you could put him anywhere on the field and he will succeed.

Wyatt says he brings “a quiet, calming presence to the field. I lead by example and inspire teammates through my high level of competitiveness and desire to win. I am always willing to put my body on the line to make the play. Overall, I am the type of teammate guys can count on both on and off the field.”

Unfortunately, the Canadian College Baseball Conference cancelled the past two baseball seasons due to COVID-19, thus the lack of game stats for Wyatt.  Despite that, Wyatt has remained focused and dedicated to his craft, working out and training regularly to stay in top condition and keep his baseball skills sharp. More specifically, Wyatt is lifting 5 days a week and hitting 3-4 days a week with a personal trainer. This trainer happens to be Todd Betts, who played 19 years of professional ball in the New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, and Cleveland Indians organizations, along with a few stints overseas.

Wyatt also has several years of coaching experience at the youth and high school levels, so he can assist a team’s coaching staff. This coaching experience ranges from ages 8-18 for both hitting and fielding. Past players have gone on to play college ball.

Overseas Goals

Wyatt wants to keep playing and be able to travel at the same time.  He says, “The ability to experience a new culture combined with the possibility of extending my career is extremely attractive to me. My love of the game is unwavering and I want to bring my passion and skillset to a strong club overseas. Additionally, as a young guy just about to finish university, I feel quite confident that the time is now to bring my talents overseas.”

Testimonials

Todd Betts

Personal Hitting Instructor

I fully recommend him as a player/coach and as an asset for any team overseas. I’ve been working with Wyatt for the last two years and trained him myself. He is highly skilled defensively and a scrappy player on the field. He is such a hard worker at his craft and I believe teams will value what he can bring to the table as a player and also as a person. Again, a total asset for any team to pick him up to play!

Dwayne Pankiw

Former Summer Coach

Wyatt has played for me with Edmonton Padres at the Junior AAA level 21U. He was a catcher, middle infielder and outfielder the season he played. Wyatt plays with a lot of heart and determination, and with a competitive desire for success. He is a great teammate and is respectful in all aspects of the game.

Wyatt has also coached as an instructor with our offseason High Performance Program. He mainly instructed at the 13U level, but also on occasion worked with our 15 and 18U players.

Wyatt is a fine young man, and is always a pleasure to be around.

Tate Clifford

College and Summer Teammate

I had the pleasure of playing with Wyatt for 3 years in our college and summer leagues. Being a fellow middle infielder, I got to spend a lot of time with Wyatt and greatly benefited from playing alongside him. Wyatt is an exceptionally hard working and driven player who brings energy to practice as well as games. Wyatt's dedication to the sport and his team make him a great teammate and an asset on and off the field.
