Sam is a strike thrower and work horse.  His primary pitch is a sinker-ball, with the velocity ranging from the mid- to high-80s (mph).  His secondary pitches are the slider and change-up, and his velocity tends to increase as the season goes on.

Though primarily a pitcher, Sam played first base throughout his junior-college career and has both played first base and served as a designated hitter some during his professional career.

Sam has also coached high school and youth kids.  It is important to him to give back to his community and coaching has given him that opportunity to share his knowledge and love of the game.

He is a supportive teammate who brings positive energy to the dugout, practice field and clubhouse.  When asked what kind of teammate Sam is, he says, “I want to share what I have learned in hopes that I can help my teammates.  I also take every opportunity I can to learn from coaches, teammates, and those around me.”

• Experience at the junior-college, NAIA and independent professional levels in the U.S.

• Independent teams twice won league titles

• 6-1, 3.36 ERA for independent team (2020)

• 3-1 record, 3.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP for independent team (2021)

• Only nine walks in 64 innings for three independent teams (2021)

Overseas Goals

Sam wants to continue his playing career, while enjoying different parts of the world.  He says, “Going overseas and experiencing how baseball is played in other countries has always been a goal of mine. I have heard great things about overseas baseball and the communities that players have been welcomed into.”
