Personal

Background:

My mentality and team-oriented approach to the game makes me a valuable member to any roster. With the help of an incredible support system and the opportunity to start as a freshman at UHH, I used my work ethic to generate consistent success on and off the field.

Hitting:

Hitting is something that I have studied and strived to excel at throughout my entire career. I’ve been fortunate enough to learn from amazing coaches about the baseball swing and what it means to be a good hitter. I would describe myself as a complete hitter. I find slapping a nasty 2-2 slider through the 4-hole for an RBI knock just as satisfying as launching one into the left-field pavilion. Production is my main goal at the plate, and aside from physical ability, I know that I can hit at a high level because of my understanding of the mental side of hitting.

Catching:

Being a catcher is something that I take great pride in, and my craft is something that I take very seriously. I understand the importance and responsibility of being behind the plate and the extra work that comes with it. Along with physical skill, I pride myself on being a great leader, and I believe that I have the tools to manage a pitching staff and help any club win ball games.

Coaching:

My coaching career began during the summer months of my collegiate years. For the All-Star Dugout Bulldogs Baseball Club (ASD), I instructed and developed many youth players on their journey to collegiate and pro baseball. In 2019, I was the assistant coach for the Newport (Oregon) Cubs. When Covid put a pause on my playing career, I began coaching full time in southern California. From June of 2020 to April of 2021, I coached full time for three different organizations (WhiteCaps Baseball Academy, San Juan Missions Baseball Club, Saint Margarets Episcopal School). I have experience managing, instructing, and developing players from ages 9-18.

Why Overseas?

Living and playing baseball in Hawaii, Germany, and the Czech Republic gave me the opportunity of meeting and playing with people from very different upbringings and cultures. Through these unique experiences, I have come to understand and appreciate the innumerable knowledge one can gain from immersing themselves in a culture far different from their own. I am a true student of the game, and I believe that playing overseas presents a grand opportunity to learn more about the game, and further improve my skill set as a ball player.

I have had the privilege of coaching Phil Steering for the last three years, as his baseball coach. He is, by far, one of the best competitors I have ever encountered. He has accomplished many achievements to include: Hawaii Hilo’s male athlete of the year, Pac West Conference batting champion, and all-time leader in hits, runs scored, RBI’s, doubles, and homeruns at Hilo. Phil was voted, by his teammates, to be team captain his Junior and Senior seasons and has proven to be a natural born leader throughout his baseball career in Hilo, Hawaii. His dedication to his team, his baseball career and his work ethic is second to none. I affirm Phil will be an impact guy both on the field and in the locker room, for any team.
