Personal

Outfield: 6.19 60 yard dash time. (Run semi-pro track in Australia) Throw 92+ from the OF, won a gold glove in college in center field, Pitching: Throw upper 80s with very good slider and splitter as secondary pitches

Infield: very quick and agile with great reaction times for fielding. Capable of throwing bullets across the diamond as well as getting rid of the ball very quickly when needed. Played Infield 3 years in high school as well as last season in America. Very Athletic and am a true Utility player that will excel at any position a team needs.

I have significant experience in just about every position on the baseball field and I take great pride in calling myself a true utility player as I know a lot of players will say they’re a Utility just to have it on paper but then be severely lacking in skill and fundamentals when they’re put at there claimed secondary position. In Highschool I played Third base for the first three years as the team needed a third baseman desperately on Varsity, and then played outfield my senior year. I played outfield in travel and summer ball all 4 years of high school as well as I am very very fast. I also was our third starting pitcher in high school and pitched all 4 years.  In college I stepped back from pitching and was only an outfielder all 4 years. I also am always at the top of the ladder when it comes to batting average and on base percentage. I have the confidence that no pitcher can beat me, as well as the ability to beat out majority of my mishit ground balls to the infield. While I have this ability, majority of the time I put the ball in play it is hard hit as I have a strong philosophy of if I find the barrel then I have done my job at the plate. I also have a great base running sense and the ability to steal bases whenever it is needed. I will always challenge outfielders arms when I know they aren’t the best. I have even tagged home safely on fly balls to second base 3 times in my career and shortstop once , as well as stole home my sophomore year of college.

After college I played two seasons in the Pecos League as well as am currently in my second season of winter ball in Australia. My first season in the Pecos League I played Center field the whole season as well as my first season in Australia as well. I also started back pitching my first season in the Pecos league, but more as a filler guy to help the team out when we would get down or up by a lot or would just run out of pitching. Same goes for my first season in Australia I pitched a few innings when the team was down by a lot and needed an arm to fill innings. I played Center Field the rest of the time I was playing in Australia my first season as well as my second season here in Australia.

My second season in the Pecos League I pitched a bit more and was more competitive in my pitching as the team was in more need of guys to pitch. I also played every single position except for first and catcher. I played left right and center at the start of the season, but out outfielders were hitting much better than our infielders so I moved to infield for the majority and rest of the season through playoffs. I mainly played third base, however, I had multiple games at second base, and short stop as well. After the second season in the Pecos league I had a few months of training where I met and trained with a World Baseball Classic for team China (Alan Carter). He gave me a few good tips for my pitching, and now I am more than confident in my pitching abilities.

I am the primary closer for my team here in Australia. I only have been pitching an inning at a time as I am needed in center field , however, I currently have pitched 4 innings with a 0 ERA, Given up 1 hit, 1 walk, 3 SO throwing Upper 80s with a nasty slider and splitter. While I am only playing outfield here, I make sure to keep up with infield training at each practice as well.

I am definitely a team guy on and off the field. I am always at games and trainings early and stay late to help with whatever I can after. I definitely go to the cages to hit any chance that I can get time forbidding, as long as I have a teammate available to come with. Everyday I do something to better myself and my career to get closer to achieving my goal of the MLB, whether its going to the gym, running, hitting/fielding, stretching, or recovery days. I always bring energy to the game and practice and make it a mission to stay positive all the time as positive words create positive energy and same for negative. I also am always happy and try to share my knowledge and experience with anyone who will listen! I love helping out teammates whether its fundamentally, physically, mentally, or anyway I can, as me helping them will only help out the team as a whole! Same goes for Juniors, Seniors, women, or anyone else at the club! I am always happy to give back to the people who have helped me or are kind and friendly to me. I am more of a lead by example guy for sure and always keep my composure. However, sometimes leading by example isn’t enough and vocal leadership is needed. I always then try to have private conversations with whoever needs talking to instead of doing it in front of others and making a scene or causing potential team issues. I graduated High School and College with honors, and that combined with playing the game since I was 4 years old I feel I have more baseball knowledge than the majority of coaches I have played under. This helps me tremendously with making game time defensive decisions, situational hitting and baserunning, and teaching the game to my teammates and students.

Overall, I am friendly, kind, supportive, very wise, very helpful to others, always bring the energy (spark plug as my current coach calls me) outgoing, and really just try to treat everyone how I would like to be treated and be as much of a leader/ positive role model for everyone who may or may not be watching.

Career highlights

Coaching

I feel I am a different coach to most modern day coaches or at least coaches I have played for. My sole focus when I coach has been on developing my players to become the best player/person they can be. Not to say I don’t care about winning or losing, but in my opinion we learn much more as a team and as an individual when we lose, rather than when we win, as that is when we see what it is we really need to work on and when people get challenged to become better. This is the same for in trainings I try to make practice hard so that the game will come easy. I also make sure to give all my players/Lessons homework every time I see them, and have developed and gone over a workout routine for my U17s to do at home this year. Anything I can do to better them on and off the field ill do.

Overseas Goals

There are countless reasons to play overseas that I have come to really appreciate these past years.  The main and most common reason I would say is the opportunity to Explore the world that most people don’t get or end up wishing they would’ve gotten in life. Not only that but you get to see the world while playing the game you love, and majority of the time living expenses are taken care of for you! Get to meet new people, explore new cultures, try new foods, see new places, and all the other great reasons for traveling.  Another great reason for playing overseas is the lack of winter ball opportunities in America. While it is too cold to play in America I can come over to Australia and play! This is also super good for playing experience and growth as a player, as while others are playing one season a year and then resting at home for 6 months, I am playing all year round and basically play two seasons to everybody else’s one. There is also the recruiting aspect of playing overseas as well! In America there are so many players, and so many prospects, that it can be virtually impossible to get seen by an MLB team unless you have the right connections. However, Overseas it is different and there are much less players competing. Therefore, for Scouts who look Overseas there is really only one or two levels of playing that they will look at to find players, and hence, I as a player will have a much better chance of getting noticed. Overall, Playing overseas is much better for helping me achieve my goal of reaching the MLB, as well as giving me the most enjoyable pathway at doing so!

Have competed summer and winter the past 2 years professionally, and college and high school before that, and travel ball before that! NO DAYS OFF!

Carlton Hardy

Head Coach at Savannah State University

Max is a wonderful young man who comes from a very supportive family. Max played for me for two years and was a pleasure to coach. ++ speed is his greatest asset. Plays well on both sides of the ball. Very intelligent player that uses his speed to help him at the plate and on defense. I think he has potential to have a career in baseball moving forward.

Chris Sims

Head Coach of Adelaide Angels

Matt Castello

Coach of Adelaide Angels

Max is the best leadoff hitter I have ever coached. He is a Swiss Army knife who can do it all from hitting with power and consistency, to stealing bases and he can even pitch. Defensively he is second to none as well. Covers an amazing amount of ground, has a great arm, positions himself well, and is highly educated.
