Personal

I am a complete hitter who can drive the ball to all parts of the field with plenty of pop to hit the long ball. My biggest strength is my speed as a 6.5 runner I am capable of stealing 2nd & 3rd base any time I get on base. Therefore, I can score a lot of runs as well as drive them in. a perfect hitter for the heart of your lineup. I am defensively sound. I have plenty of range to play center field and throw mid to high 80’s from the outfield.

I am secondary first basemen. I can pick the ball and field ground balls at a high level. I have good height which makes me a good throwing target & long legs to work the bag.

I consider myself a selfless player putting the team before me. Rather on the field or in the dugout I am doing everything to help the team win & I will bring great energy to the game! As being new on a ball club I will come ready to compete for a spot on the filed while getting to know my teammates and coaches. I am always willing to put in extra work on my own as this is something that I love to do & strive to be the best version of myself everyday. I am more than willing to help a teammate out on or off the field.

Career highlights

At Florida Memorial University I was nominated by my coaching staff as Captain of the baseball team. In this role I helped lead my team to the conference playoffs for the first time in 5 years. In addition, I was the most outstanding player in the program’s first ever national championship after winning the Black College World Series.

Coaching

As a coach my biggest strength is teaching the mental side of the game. I can help develop hitters to have right mentality & mechanics at the plate. I can also help improve base running from stealing, to making a single into a double, and scoring from second. I teach fundamentals daily so I have plenty of drills to improve any aspect of a fielder or hitters game.

Overseas Goals

I want to take my career over seas because of my love for baseball. I think it will be a good experience & keeps me in the game of baseball. I want to compete at the highest level possible so where ever I land I plan to dominate & prove that I am capable of competing as a professional baseball player.

My schedule consist of me waking up early to work out, hit, and go to work. I work at a baseball facility and serve as a hitting instructor. This keeps my mind sharp as I am always talking about the game of baseball and my training helps me stay ready for my opportunity. Working at a hitting facility gives me access to a pitching machine so I can get reps off a high velocity daily. In addition I do live ab’s occasionally.

Barry Larkin

Cincinnati Reds, Hall of Famer

I had the opportunity to work with Jalen for the past two years. Jalen is a responsible, hard working, dedicated young man with a high baseball IQ. When I first worked with Jalen, I introduced different concepts and philosophies to him. Jalen asked to be challenged with a new and different approach to baseball. Jalen embraced and learned to be comfortable while being uncomfortable with this new approach. Jalen accepted the challenge, struggled with the new information, accepted the short term struggles, continued to grind, made the necessary adjustments and eventually dominated the opposition. Jalen, the respected leader, demonstrated to his teammates true humility, courage and perseverance. Jalen is a high character individual with the desire to learn and compete. He is disciplined, determined and has tremendous work ethic. I am proud to know and have worked with this young man.

I had the privilege of coach Jalen Young at Florida Memorial University from 2021 to 2023,
during which time he served as our team captain. My interaction with Jalen extended beyond
the professional realm, allowing me to witness firsthand his exceptional character. In addition
to fulfilling the role of team captain, Jalen seamlessly became an extension of our coaching
staff.
Jalen possesses a charisma that truly lights up any room he enters, leaving a lasting impression
on everyone he meets. His ability to connect with others is evident as he introduces himself to
everyone, leaving people curious about the individual who just left the room.
During his tenure as our team captain, Jalen played a pivotal role in our success, contributing
significantly to our first-ever National Championship in school history. His dedication and skills
were recognized when he was selected as the Most Valuable Player. Beyond his on field
achievements, Jalen’s character stand out as a rare and valuable assets for any organization.
Looking ahead, I have no doubt that Jalen will continue to make meaningful contributions, and I
personally envision him transitioning into a coach role once his playing career concludes. Jalen
Young is undoubtedly a gem, and any organization would be fortunate to have someone of his
caliber.
