Personal
Cody Ivey is a utility player with experience at the collegiate and independent professional league levels in the U.S., as well as internationally in Germany and Australia.
He has worked with former major-league player Dwayne Hosey, getting training and also helping with the youth program. Hosey was highly impressed with Cody’s catching ability and his power at the plate.
During the Summer of 2018, Cody was very active. He participated in spring training for the independent Pecos League in the U.S., and then played in the semi-pro Military Baseball Organization where manager Juan Adriatico was pleasantly surprised with Cody’s catching ability. At the end of that season, Cody was briefly in the independent Empire League.
In 2019, Cody played with the Laufer Wolfe of the German 2nd Bundesliga. He spent the majority of the season behind the plate, catching 21 of the 27 games. Offensively, he averaged .265 and had .390 OBP with 10 stolen bases (and an 83-percent success rate), and he lead the team in triples. One-third of his hits were for extra bases.
Cody also has coaching experience, having served as a coach and catching instructor for a youth club, and he was the 2nd men’s team head coach and the youth coach for the Laufer club in 2019.
Overseas Goals
Now that Covid restrictions are being lifted, Cody is looking to make a comeback. He is currently playing in Australia with the Manly Eagles of the New South Wales State League. He is looking for a European team for the 2023 season.
