Personal

Mid to upper 80s FB. CB low 70s, changeup 77-80. Cutter low 80s.

Crafty lefty who gets outs and limits walks and the running game.

I am able to play outfield and first base if needed. My strengths are in my ability to adapt and learn quickly.  I have mainly been in the bullpen through my college career, but I pride myself in being able to come into any situation and get to work on the mound. I have always been able to help others in the pitching staffs I have been a part of by finding the small things in deliveries and mechanics to elevate people’s skills. I greatly enjoy that aspect of pitching and being another coaching resource for my teammates.

I was injured in my first outing for Georgetown University after dealing with a jam situation and entering into a fresh inning. A comebacker was hit towards my head, but I blocked the ball with my pitching hand and broke my hand. I have a pin in my palm and my hand is healed.  I rehabbed and came back for the last ten games of the season at Georgetown University and the Big East Championship.

I am also engaged to my fiancé, Olivia.

Paul Hartzell

Former MLB pitcher

I have known Cam Guarino’s parents as co-workers and professionals for over 25 years. When it comes to having the right people at home to develop an outstanding young person, both Peter and Liz are the people to make that happen. They started sending me videos when Cam was about 9 years old and that continued through high school and college.
My experience of more than 700 innings of Major League Baseball gives me a unique perspective when watching young people pitch. I have given pitching clinics in such diverse locations as London, Singapore and Havana and witnessed almost every type of delivery from both right-handed and left-handed pitchers. What I can say with absolute certainty is that Cam has developed and perfected what I refer to as a “repeatable” delivery with great balance, leg drive, consistent arm slot and ultimate control. He is efficient, a very good fielder because he has body control after delivering the pitch and he knows where to be on the field in every situation.
Cam Guarino will be a valuable addition to any team. As a player, as a teammate and as someone who will help others improve their game as well. I give my highest recommendation for an international team to consider Cam for a pitching position.

Additional Testimonial: Brendan Sullivan, Headfirst

Cam’s eager and unflappable attitude, joy for the game and competition, and care for others is matched by a positive energy that makes him a real force on the mound, in the dugout and in anything he touches. I’ve watched him work and will himself into becoming a Division II baseball player at the University of New Haven and, from there, bring these same characteristics to the Division I Georgetown Hoyas as a grad transfer.

He is a standout in the classroom, a leader on the field and a leader in the various communities to which he belongs. He is a true game-changer – the type of young man who makes any team, class, group or effort better, just by his presence. And with Cam, you’re never going to just get his presence – you’re going to get his absolute best at every moment. I’ve never seen it any other way.
