“Winning is a Habit. Success is a Choice.” Austin is a difference maker as well as an inspirational winner on and off the field. He is an Outfielder / Pitcher / 1st Baseman who throws and bats left-handed. As a starting Center Fielder, Austin has + speed, + arm and has excelled in RF as well as LF. He often displays his athleticism and fantastic hands when playing 1st base. He is a player / coach looking to secure a spot oversea.

Austin just completed his 2021 season with Bakersfield Train Robbers located in Bakersfield, CA in Pecos Professional Baseball League. Coached by Relly Mercurio, the team finished season winning the Pacific Division. Although sustaining a serious high sprained ankle in first week of season that hampered him through out summer, he finished with strong stats at the plate starting at 1st base and in outfield. He had a .368 Ave, .446 OBP and 1.078 OPS. He averaged 1 HR at of every 7 hits. He displayed exceptional hands at 1st and outstanding instincts, defense as well as a +arm in outfield. The team could count on Austin getting on base and RBI’s when runners in scoring position.

Austin played in 2020 shortened COVID-19 season with the Indiana Barn Owls playing in the Liberation Independent League. He started in RF and LF as well as some games at 1st base. His BA was .296 with OBP of .443 displaying exceptional speed, defense and arm strength in outfield.

In The Western League (Pecos Independent League) 2020 Winter Professional Baseball season, Austin showed-up and showed-out, displaying impressive speed as well as agility on defense and producing timely hits with players in scoring position. He led the league in RBI’s and Doubles and had a .350 batting average with .907 SLG. He batted 3rd in lineup and started every game in OF.

In 2019 he had a .333 BA and .667 Slugging % in Cal-Pac Baseball League as well as 1 HR every 20 AB’s. I am also a left-handed pitcher with 89-91 mph 4-seam FB and a 5-pitch arsenal that includes 2-seam FB with good movement, Vulcan Change, Cutter, Curve and Slider. He is a strong base stealer and can bunt to get on base or sacrifice. He can also play 1st base with excellent hands. Austin brings the attributes of being an excellent team players, big time work ethic, grit and an infectious, positive attitude.

In the Summer of 2019 he played in prestigious Arizona Collegiate Baseball League (wood bat) which is full of D1 and MLB drafted players. There were 14 teams playing in league. As starting Centerfielder and relief pitcher I finished season batting .453, SLG .755 and OPS 1.279. I led league (players over 60 PA’s) in batting average, SLG, OPS, doubles and second in HR and stolen bases. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjpBMe1TjfzQHenbWQTbmPg

Paul Barrington

Simpson University, Coach

Austin grew as a player and a person his last 2 years at Simpson. His work ethic was exemplary. He wore out the weight room. He had a 2B and game winning hit to beat the 17th ranked team in the nation. His Home Run against Marymount was a 400’ bomb. His speed allowed him to cover RF well. It will be interesting to see how he does in the next few years.

Relly Mercurio

Head Coach - Bakersfield Train Robbers

I coached Austin in 2021 Pecos Professional Baseball League. Austin severely sprained his ankle in first week of season which kept him out several games as well as hampered him considerably throughout the season. With his speed and base running timing, he would have been one of tops in stolen bases if healthy. Even with injury, he was one of top outfielders in league, hitting for power and average with a 368 BA and 1 HR every 7 hits. He also excelled at 1st base for us as well. We could count on him to hit key RBI's when team needed it. He has great instincts in OF with + speed, arm and defense to go with a solid approach at plate. As a bonus, his understanding of game he helped a number of our players with their hitting. I highly recommend him to any program both on field and off.
