About Our Club

Neptunus is a baseball and softball club in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The club evolved out of the multi-sport club SC Neptunus, which was founded in June 1900. The baseball department was founded in May 1943 and the softball department in June 1973. Although the club has fielded a football team in the past, it is primarily known for baseball and softball.

Following the 2014 season, the club signed a sponsorship contract with Curaçao and competes under the name Curaçao Neptunus.

The club supports baseball teams in 11 categories and softball teams in six levels.

The first baseball team plays in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the top level of professional baseball in the Netherlands, and it has been the most successful team in league history. Neptunus has won the league championship a record 19 times, the most recent title coming in 2018.  It was runner-up in 2019.  No champion was declared in 2020.

Neptunus won the Holland Series seven consecutive times from 1999 to 2005 and took  the European Cup five consecutive times from 2000 to 2004. In 2010 the club set a league record by winning 39 games in a single season.

The club has won the European Baseball Cup 1 ten times – the second most of any club. It’s most recent championship came in 2018.  In addition, its teams have won the European Cup 2 five times, the European Super Cup seven times and been named Rotterdam Sports Team of the year on eight occasions.

The teams play at Neptunus Familiestadion, which has a capacity of 2,460.  The facility also includes 26 covered sky boxes for sponsors, bringing the total number of seats to 2,760.

Neptunus is also co-initiator of the World Port Cities Tournament, a prestigious international baseball tournament played every two years since 1985 in its own Neptunus Family Stadium. The tournament is now called World Port Tournament.
