About Our Club

National Coach West / National Team Coach Pitching

The Austrian Baseball Softball Federation is seeking a coach with a strong pitching background who can develop pitchers in the western provinces of the country and act as a pitching/base coach for the national team. The candidate should be up-to-date with modern training methods and technologies and also have the ability to coach hitting and fielding at the youth level. It is preferred that the candidate is familiar with baseball in Europe and the differences within the game compared to that of professional or college baseball in the U.S. Ideally, the candidate has a European passport or a residence permit in the Schengen zone. However, we are open to all applications from coaches all over the world, as long as a work permit in Austria (or the Schengen zone) can be obtained.

The candidate should possess:

  • Proficiency in the English language (German is a bonus)

  • College or professional coaching experience

  • Strong communication skills

  • The ability to work independently

  • Character and skillset to build relationships, motivate, and guide players

A typical weekly (M-F) working schedule would consist of:

  • Approximately 4 hours of practice with selection teams and club teams

  • Communication work with players, clubs, and the federation

  • Oversee the development of the players, preparation of training plans for teams in western Austria, and individual training plans (national team pitchers of the country)

  • Occasional recruiting projects of young players, such as introducing baseball in schools or similar

Responsibilities with the Association (ABF):

  • Supervision and coaching of national team pitchers

  • Creation of training plans

  • Organization, planning, and holding of training sessions

  • Sifting and support of national team players at (league) games

  • Support in communication, planning, and organization of national team events

  • Participation in further education and training

  • Coach the Coaches

Responsibilities with the West Region (Vorarlberg/Tirol):

  • Supervision and organization of the junior performance group at three locations in Vorarlberg

  • K-Project Coordinate coaching staff and training sites

  • Supervision and support of (junior) work in the province of Tyrol

  • Support club work in the province of Vorarlberg

  • Planning and organization of participation in inter/national junior tournaments/trainings

  • Communication with the sports coordinator and national coach
