Zoe primarily plays first base and the outfield, but she is quite versatile, having also played first base, third base, outfield, and pitcher.  She has also served as a catcher during scrimmages.

As a hitter, she has good power to the gaps and consistently has high on-base percentages.

Zoe says, “I am an outgoing person that brings passion and energy to the diamond.  I love softball and study it closely, so I offer knowledge and a high softball IQ.  I am a vocal leader who also leads by example.”

Ben Greer

Iowa Western Community College, Head Coach

Zoe is THE hardest working player I’ve had in 13 years of collegiate softball coaching. She’s got a great frame and has some natural talent, but she excels because she never stops working. As a sophomore at Iowa Western she hit every single morning before classes on her own in the cage. She hit .370 something as a freshman and was Second Team All-Region, then committed to being the best version of herself as a sophomore and earned First Team All-American honors by hitting .488 and winning 16 games in the circle. It was the biggest jump I’ve ever seen. She’s a self-starter who can will you to win at the plate and in the circle. She throws it pretty firm and has good down stuff when she pitches. As a person, she’s even better. She always takes time to try to help further the game and teach anyone who asks her for help. She came and visited during the winter and I know our current girls were hitting her up to work out with her and she would get up super early to try and show them what the grind for success looks like. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this young woman. She’d be an asset on and off the field to whoever is lucky enough to snag her.

Mark Montgomery

Louisiana Tech University, Head Coach

Zoe is a tremendous player, but what makes her special is her passion to play the game. Most players playing at the DI level are passionate and competitive, but Zoe takes that to another level. Her zeal for the game is unmatched. She is talented but the passion for the game and for her teammates is what makes her special. Zoe may not be the best player on the team but Zoe will help make each team the best that it can be! I would want Zoe Hicks to play for any team that I coach!

Moriah Strother

Louisiana Tech University, Graduate Assistant

Zoe Hicks is truly a student of the game. She is always seeking knowledge and understanding so she can pursue growth and set herself up for success. Having known Zoe for two years now I have seen so much grit. She’s the epitome of hard work. Always the first one to show up and the last one to leave. I can’t tell you how many times she called me up for extra BP and reps. The girl’s heart is on fire for this sport and she radiates that with her play. Her passion is exemplified when she shares her story, learnings, and strategies with her teammates. Zoe gives her trials and successes purpose by always helping the person next to her. She is a selfless leader who wants it for teammates just as bad, if not more than she wants it for herself. Zoe is a great advocate for female athletes and striving to pave a way.
