William’s fastball normally sits in the mid to high 80s (mph) and tops out close to 90. According to Rapsodo reports, he has 13 to 16 inches of horizontal break on his curve. He slider is in the mid 70s with six to 12 inches of horizontal break. His changeup and splitter range in the mid-70s (mph). He has good command and will throw any pitch, regardless of the count.

He has excellent sprint speed (3.36 seconds in the 30-yard dash), so he can be utilized as a pinch runner. He has not played in the field since high school, but his speed would be an asset defensively.

William spent the summer of 2021 training at Driveline, the well-known baseball training facility in Seattle, WA, to enhance his skills. He also works out regularly to stay in top condition.

He describes himself as a “lead-by-example kind of guy during practice and off the field.” In fact, though he was injured and did not play last season, his teammates still voted him captain.

“Last year when I was injured, I found a role during games as someone to help the guys get loose in the bullpen and help the energy and morale stay high.”

In addition, he has several years of experience as an instructor at youth camps, and he could assist a coaching staff. He is familiar with the Rapsodo software program, is well-versed in all the technical terms for pitching, and can teach and proscribe Driveline baseball drills to work on mechanical deficiencies.

Matthew Parrington

Macalester Baseball Head Coach

Will is a very aware person with exceptional judgement and complementary communication skills to go with it. His leadership style is highlighted by his calm demeanor and the ease with which he engages those around him. While his maturity and dedication to his craft are certainly impressive traits, his ability to impact those around him make him a consummate teammate and leader.

Will's steady progress as a college pitcher is impressive. As his velocity ticked up over his time in our program, his command has remained his strength. He is a well balanced athlete with a feel for all aspects of pitching. Will is an extremely competitive athlete who understands what needs to be done in pursuit of his goals, all while bringing others along with him.

I think Will can positively impact an organization from day one, both as a person and player.

Ben Moore

Former Macalester Pitching Coach

Will is an extremely high character individual with a passion for baseball. He has grown into a leader on the pitching staff both on and off the field and someone who mentors younger players. He is like having another pitching coach in the dugout.

On the field he is a strike thrower with three pitches who controls the running game and fields his position at an elite level.
