Kelbi Berg

Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Pitching Coach

Jayson was a pleasure to coach during the two years I spent with him at IUP. He has a positive can-do attitude and approaches everyday looking to get better in an area of his game. Jayson was able to develop five pitches (FB/CH/SL/CB/CU), possessing the confidence and ability to throw them in or around the zone, in any count.

Jayson was a great teammate among his peers and held others to high standards. He was a large asset to IUP baseball and will be very difficult to replace.

Anthony Rebyanski

Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Head coach

Jayson came to us after spending time at the junior college level. We were looking for a key bullpen guy and he became that for us during his time at IUP. He was a pleasure to be around, and took a leadership role over the course of his career here. He was a guy who always wanted the ball, in tough situations, and had the “nobody can beat me” attitude that a key bullpen guy needs to have.

Alongside our pitching coach, he did work hard to develop four to five pitches in his repertoire, but primarily used two to three only. That gave him the ability and confidence to use those pitches at any time if he needed. The determination to learn how to throw that many pitches says a lot about his work ethic. He was always trying to better his game for not only himself, but also for his teammates. He knew that the better he was, the better the team and his teammates would become.

He was a great teammate during his time with us, and it showed by the comradery he shared with the other student-athletes. He will be a hard replacement on next years pitching staff, not only due to his talents and abilities on the mound but also due to how he handled himself on and off the field of play. It was my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to coach Jayson over the last several years here at IUP.

Scott Cawker

Head Coach Oshawa Junior Baseball, Head Coach

I was very fortunate to coach both Jayson and his older brother Mitch on our League championship team a few years ago. They were cut from the same cloth given that they have a deep knowledge and love of the game, were keen competitors, and great teammates. Jayson is a southpaw with good life on his fastball as well as good depth and movement on his off-speed repertoire and shows strong mental acuity and presence in every appearance on the mound.

Any team would be blessed to have a young man like Jayson on their pitching staff. His resilience, determination, and work ethic will positively transfer to his fellow teammates and his easygoing manner will undoubtedly cement many lifetime friendships.
