Personal

Cordell has the ability to hit to all fields and is good at driving in runs, with 41 RBIs in 61 games during his last two seasons of collegiate play.

Though primarily a third baseman, he is quite versatile, having also played first base, second base, and both corner outfield positions.

Cordell is the type of player who brings energy to a team.  He says, “I am an approachable, supportive teammate who leads by example.  I am looking to win, but to also have a good time while doing it because baseball is supposed to be fun.”

Cordell also has coaching experience that a club can leverage.  He has been a youth coach, as well as a hitting and fielding instructor at the high-school level. He has a strong knowledge of the game and, having been a player, has a good understanding of what players must go through.

Cordell works out and trains regularly to stay in top condition.  He has a daily regimen of stretching, conditioning, throwing and hitting, and he also participates in Jiu Jitsu classes three  days a week and plays in a softball league twice a week.

JB Eary, who works in player development for the Cleveland Indians, says, “Cordell has a mature approach to preparing himself and a great focus during his workouts. He has a solid, whole-field approach [at bat] with the ability to drive the ball to the gaps. Defensively, he is an athlete with the ability to pick up new actions and positions quickly. He has solid arm strength that would allow him to play third base without any issues, and has the athleticism and work ethic to play and/or learn other positions as well (as he has already shown). [He is] very coachable and professional [and] would be a great addition to a roster.”

Chris Stevens

Allan Hancock College, Head Coach

I had the pleasure of coaching Cordell his first two years of college. He is a man of true character, integrity and impeccable work ethic on and off the field. Cordell put his teammates first, helping them succeed and advance in their endeavors. Cordell is a ‘true leader’ in every sense of the word. Cordell will work until every goal is accomplished. He’s relentless in his pursuits of success and will show others the power of determination and perseverance.

Chad Rogers

East Central University, Assistant Coach

I had the privilege of working with Cordell for two years at East Central University. During those two years, I watched Cordell not only grow as a player but more importantly as a young man. I watched him take pride in work ethic and being a great teammate. He faced adversity throughout both seasons and overcame every challenge he was faced with and became a better player and person because of it. He was always self-motivated and self-driven. When asked to lead or be a part of something, his answer was always "yes sir". He constantly was a student of the game, always looking for an edge to make himself better. During both of those seasons, those teams struggled to find an identity and direction; severely needing good leadership. Cordell was a player that could be relied upon to do things the right way, regardless of the uncertainty and chaos around him. It is an honor to be a small part of Cordell's life.

JB Eary

Cleveland Indians, Player Development

I got to know Cordell last winter in Las Vegas. He had a mature approach to his work in preparing himself for his college season and great focus during his workouts. He has a solid, whole field approach with the ability to drive the ball to the gaps. Defensively, he is an athlete with the ability to pick up new actions and positions quickly. He has solid arm strength that would allow him to play 3B without any issues, and has the athleticism and work ethic to play and/or learn other positions as well (as he has already shown). Very coachable and professional, would be a great addition to a roster.
