Personal

Chelsea’s primary position is third base, but she has played all the infield positions during her career and can slot into any of them, depending on a team’s needs.  She has clean glovework and gets her throws away quickly.

At the plate, she has consistently had high on-base percentages, and she also has good power, with a high percentage of her hits going for extra bases.

Chelsea is effective in high-pressure situations, and she enjoys stepping into leadership roles.  She brings energy to a club, is a “consistent student of the game”, and “will not hesitate to put in whatever work is necessary.”

She continues to work out and train regularly to ensure that she is ready to play, both physically and mentally.

She also has a lot of youth coaching experience and would be able to assist a club’s coaching staff.

Chelsea is truly one of a kind and that is true both on and off the field. From her dedication, hard work, and passion - you will never find another Chelsea Sligh! Chelsea’s primary position is third base but with her leadership abilities and thorough knowledge of the game, you can play her anywhere and trust that she will get the job done while also helping the others around her. She embodies teamwork and is always willing to not just improve her game but help improve her teammates whether it be their physical or mental game. One phrase that she always says at practice or in the game is “so what!” and it was always music to my ears. She never said it in a sarcastic way, instead it was always a reminder that softball has no memory. Teams are going to make mistakes and she reminds them in that moment, “so what,” let's get the next one. If I could take a million Chealsea’s I would but that just wouldn't be fair to whoever the opposing team would be! Her intensity is unmatched and brings grit and perseverance back to the game. And most importantly she is coachable and always asking questions to improve her game. It is with honor and without a doubt that I recommend Chelsea for this position, any team and any coach would truly be blessed to have her.
