Personal

Andy is an extremely high level catcher who was drafted in the 17th round by the Minnesota Twins in 2017 after a successful college campaign finishing at North Carolina State. In high school he was selected for All-League three separate times and was named All-State as a catcher, along with being an All-State pitcher as well. After a redshirt season at the University of Washington, he transferred to Santa Barbara City College (JuCo), and was selected as the league Defensive Player of the Year at catcher.

During the next summer he played in the highly touted Alaskan Summer League, where he was selected by coaches to be the starting catcher for the All-Star team, and then continued his great play by leading his team to a championship. He spent one year at NC State (ACC) where he led the team to a number 6 national ranking and a regional appearance. During his tenure there he was considered one of the best, if not the best catcher in arguably the best college conference in the country.

After being drafted by the Twins with the first pick in the 17th round, he caught for Elizabethton of the Appalachian League and was invited to spring training the following two years. Both years with Elizabethton he was a part of Appalachian League Champion teams. In 2019, Andy caught for the Southern Illinois Miners where he led the league in hitting for the first 35 games, hitting .383 through 120+ at bats. He was selected as an All Star for the 2019 Can-Am vs. Frontier League All-Star game, where he started at catcher for the Frontier League. In addition to his impressive abilities, he is self described as “extremely competitive” and “loves to teach”.

2021: 1st European Season

Last year in 2021, Andy spent half of the season in the Czech Extraligue with the Prague Eagles and half of the season with the Montpellier Barracudas in the French Division 1.  Over the season, he proved his versatility and value to the teams he played for.  In 36 games, Andy played 18 at Catcher, 10 at Shortstop, 6 at 3B, two at 1B and two at 2B.  Along with that, Andy pitched in 8 games in relief over the summer, allowing only one run in 10+ innings of relief.  In the 18 games that Andy played in the Czech Republic, he led his team in batting average, OBP, hits, doubles, and home runs.  In the 18 games Andy played in France’s Division 1, he led his team in RBI’s, On Base Percentage, stolen bases, and tied for the lead in HR’s.

Andy is a throw back in many ways. His passion, desire, and competitive spirit can be infectious. Andy loves to play and will elevate the game of those around him with his presence. He’s a classic catch and throw guy who will defend at a high level and can single handedly shut down an opponents run game with his arm. Andy is instinctual, plays without fear, and can be trusted to do his job. I can say with confidence that Andy would be a positive addition to any organization if given the opportunity.

"Andy would be an excellent addition to any baseball organization. His defensive skills are second to none and he controls a pitching staff very well. His catch and throw abilities are amongst the best I’ve ever seen in baseball. He can also swing the bat and is a multi-faceted offensive player with above average speed. His work ethic on and off the field combined with his leadership skills add even more value to a baseball team. I strongly recommend adding Andy to your organization."

Additional Info

Abilities summary: Elite defensive catcher, known to dominate the defensive side of the ball. Extremely high level receiver, and well above average arm. In professional game pop times between 1.8-1.9, lowest at 1.77, and a professional career 45+% caught stealing rate.  Very strong game caller, with ability to control the pitching staff and the field. Solid bat to ball skills. Consistently puts together quality at bats. Has been a successful hitter in very high level baseball.

Closing pitcher in high school. All-State Honors as a pitcher. 0.00 era, 12ip, 18Ks, 1BB, 6 Saves in best conference in state of Washington.  Earned multiple D1 two-way offers but declined to play in better conference.  Working extremely hard this off-season to develop back into a pitcher, and confident that I’ll be a strong asset on the mound come spring.
