With the recent completion of his college baseball career, Andrew Fernandez is a fresh arm in search of continuing his baseball career, wherever that may take him.
A 2018 graduate of California State University, East Bay, Andrew earned a double degree in both graphic design and multimedia. He played 4 full seasons for CSUEB’s NCAA Division II baseball program, competing against some of the top teams and players in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Andrew helped lead his team to its first playoff birth since joining the CCAA in 2016, as well as their first NCAA regional appearance in 39 years, setting the school record with 33 victories. In 2017, he held opponents to a .170 batting average, the lowest of any pitcher in the CCAA. That year he posted a 2.55 era, 4 wins, 7 saves, and 32 strikeouts across 42.1 innings, earning All-CCAA honors. He led Cal State East Bay in appearances each of the last three seasons, and his career save total ranks No. 3 in program history.
Off the field, Andrew has been categorized as a leader and someone who strives for excellence within his own traits. In 2016 he was 1 of 300 selected student athletes from across the NCAA that were given the opportunity to attend the NCAA Leadership Forum. He has also had a continuous influence through the athletic department’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee, has initiated and maintained support of children with serious and chronic illnesses through the Team Impact organization.

I had the pleasure to both play with and coach Andrew Fernandez. During the beginning stages of his baseball career I could tell that he had certain intangible qualities that are very important to the game of baseball such as work ethic, good character, and a willingness to learn. Those qualities have carried him from a redshirt year of throwing overhand to being one of the most dominant submarine pitchers I have ever coached or played with. Andrew is a high character guy and a great teammate who puts the needs of the team before his own and is always willing to pick another guy up if he is down. He has battled through various forms of adversity in both baseball and in life, which has helped shape the ball player he is today and more importantly, the man he is today. Andrew is a bulldog on the mound ready for any situation you throw him into and a guy you can always count on to pull through big when you need it most. I highly recommend Andrew as a guy who will be a professional, both on and off the diamond.
