Grace College, Head Coach

Xavier Harris was an already accomplished player that I inherited on the existing roster at Grace College upon being named Head Coach. I had the pleasure of coaching him for the previous two seasons. After having broken the program’s single season home run record as a sophomore Xavier sustained an injury to his knee that threatened his career and future. The resolve that he demonstrated during his rehabilitation and comeback was slow paced, but remarkable. Having fully recovered, a further testament of his character was his quiet example and willingness to buy into a philosophy and new regime that he was not originally recruited by. That example coupled with his production helped our program to finish the 2019 season as runner-up in our conference tournament; something our program had not accomplished in its sixty-year history. Xavier possessed a good work ethic and competent resolve at Grace College. That enabled him to use his skill set to compete at a high level in NAIA college baseball. With his career being slowed at one point by injury I believe that there is a possibility that his best baseball may still be in front of him. He has the potential to continue his development and growth arc as a player both in IQ and ability. If he finds the right placement, I believe that potential could be realized.

My name is Cameron Screeton and I had the privilege of coaching Xavier Harris for 3 years at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. Xavier not only excelled on the baseball field, leading our team in many offensive categories throughout his years at Grace, he also was a great leader with high quality work ethic. Xavier always showed up willing to work hard with a great attitude. He was always ready to do whatever it took to help the team win and helped his teammates by setting the example for how to work hard. I highly recommend Xavier for this opportunity. If you have more questions, I would be happy to help out in whatever way I could.
