In my first pro season overseas in the Netherlands, I took on a leadership role as the starting catcher, sharing the knowledge I’ve gained from playing at both the NCAA Division 1 and 2 levels in the U.S. I bring competitive, vocal energy to the field when I’m catching and pride myself in my relationships with my pitchers.
In Australia, I played third and first base in addition to catching , and was awarded Women’s Team of the Year Utility Player when our team won the 2023 South Australia State Championships. In this tournament I hit AVG .461 with two doubles and an OBP of .538.
As the starting catcher for the Crazy Chicklets in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, we placed second in the league for regular season, and second in the Championship series. I worked as a player/coach writing practice plans, training our catchers, working with hitters, and rotating as a third base coach during games. In regular season I hit AVG .410 with a .541 SLG. At the end of season I earned the defensive catcher Gold Glove Award and offensive catcher Silver Slugger Award in the Austrian Softball League.
In the 2023 European Winners Cup B, I assisted the Crazy Chicklets in winning the silver medal placing 2nd in the tournament, securing a spot for Austria in the European Winners Cup A next year. In this tournament I was individually recognized for my leading batting average of .611. and earned the Best Hitter Award.
My command of my defense is one of my defining characteristics as a player, and I’m able to do so because of the trust my teammates and I build together on and off the field. I’m able to transfer many of my skills from catching to the corners, and I love leading my team whether its on defense or offense. I lead by example by consistently putting in extra reps outside of practice, bringing the energy up during practice and games, and by prioritizing positive communication with my team and coaches to best serve the program.

Coaching
Follow my instagram page @coachtyler_catching or facebook page to see recent content of me training catchers in California, Netherlands, Australia, Austria, and Germany.
I am the owner of Coach Tyler Catching LLC where I give private lessons to catchers and hitters in Southern California, and continue to train my athletes online with virtual catching lessons. I have also previously worked as Lead Catching Coach at Jen Schro Catching after training with Jen since I was 11 years old. I specialize in coaching catchers and running team defense/team defensive plays, and I also love working with hitters individually on their swing mechanics and plate approaches. One of my strengths as a coach is my ability to communicate the why behind what I’m teaching. I’m the type of athlete that’s very academically inclined and learns best through demonstration and strategy, and I’ve learned that I can reach more players by teaching this way as well. Growing up in Southern California I had access to a huge concentration of high quality coaching that I’m passionate about sharing. My softball IQ and teaching style has been heavily influenced by my experience working with Jen Schroeder, and I love teaching young catchers about these advanced skills they may otherwise not be exposed to.
Overseas Goals
I want to continue playing softball overseas to contribute to the overall development of this sport while also strengthening myself as an athlete. Sharing my softball knowledge and experiences is something I’m passionate about sharing with as many teams and players as I can. Playing overseas is a privilege; long term, I want to play as many seasons overseas as I can in the next few years while making my way into more competitive leagues. Learning about the countries I’m traveling to and creating lasting relationships with the players and coaches I work with is important to me, and I’ll always be grateful to the game of softball for it.
