Personal

I am a player with excellent defensive skills who can figure it out on the baseball field. I am a good contact hitter who doesn’t strike out often.  I have played everywhere across the diamond and got the job done.
As a pitcher I throw sidearm upper 70s with a sinker, slider, and change up.
I am a primary infielder/outfielder, but have caught since I was 13.

I have been a utility player my entire life. In high school, I played everywhere on the field whenever there was a need. As the leadoff hitter, I was needed on the field and found ways to be valuable at every position.
In college, I again played everywhere from starting in the outfield/pitching my sophomore year to infield/pitching my junior year, to pitching/catching/infield my senior and grad school years. I am constantly at work refining all parts of my game, to make sure I can be placed anywhere on the field.

I am a vocal leader who also leads by example. My experience as a coach and trainer helps make me a knowledgeable and supportive teammate. An excellent motivator, after both good and bad innings, I am very good at tempering egos to help put them back on the path of success. I am the guy who always wants my teammates to do well and to help them succeed in anyway I can.

Coaching

As a coach, I am committed to improving skills and winning, but in ways that also build team energy. My goal is to create a strong base and build from there. I have high standards and expectations for my players; hard, sometimes boring work is necessary. However, I coached the Hungarian Red Wolves U12 team to beat a formidable team they hadn’t beaten in 5 years, and you don’t accomplish that only with drills and discipline. I have created and run practices for many years now. I have years of experience as team captain. Incredible coaches, trainers, and mentors have honed my coaching approach, and I am always looking to improve through experience and learning from others. I trained at Driveline and am completing certifications there. I will complete my Masters in Exercise Science in 2025. I will also start my college coaching career at St. Joseph Brooklyn University in fall of 2024 as a Infield/Outfield defensive Coordinator, hitting coach, and recruiter

Overseas Goals

Growing up in America, my dream job would be a professional baseball coach or a high level college coach here in the States. But before that happens, and partly because I wasn’t born in America, I want to help build the baseball culture and climate all over the world. In my short experience in Hungary, I helped change the level of intensity and quality of baseball in the club at every age level. I have seen firsthand that I have the sports and communication skills to help players perform at their best. But also, playing and coaching overseas improved my own skills. So, it’s a win-win. I am a good fit for any team that wants to do the work to become better.

My most recent playing experience was July 2024. Since then, I have been hitting the cages 2-3 times a week with my former college players and taking fielding reps 2-3 times a week as well. I also do the arm care routine I learned at Driveline in order to prepare my arm for the workload of next season. I consistently lift and run 4-6 times a week to get stronger for the season.

St. Cloud State Baseball pitching coach and director of player development & former pitching coach at Driveline

"As Tran’s trainer at Driveline, I have nothing but great things to say about him. From his work ethic, to his open kindness, his great ability to be coachable and I am even comparing this to players I have worked with who play in the MLB, affiliated, NPB, D1 College players and so on. He never stopped to ask questions and pick my brain about pitching, recovery, sleep, nutrition. Tran is easily one of my top 5 athletes I have ever coached!

“I had the pleasure of being housemates with Tran on the Budapest Red wolves. I'm amazed about how fast he was able to adjust to the higher level of play. I could always rely on him to get the job done on the field and off. I knew that no matter where I put him on the field that he would shine. He is a great role model for every team he participates on. His versatility and perseverance is something to be respected. ”
