I am a left-handed hitting catcher with a very strong arm. In game pop time: 1.9-2.00 (8-13 caught stealing through 20 games so far in D1 college baseball). I hit for average to all fields (.300 BA or higher in each college season) with some power (Exit velo: 110mph w/ metal bat). 87-88mph velo from the crouch to second base.

I have been a utility player my whole life. I did not begin playing catcher primarily until college. I have college experience playing outfield as well as pitching (my fastball has been up to 91mph when throwing in the off-season for fun).

I am a lead-by-example guy that is usually the last one in the dugout. I am not a big talker in general but I communicate well on the field. I come from a baseball family where two of my uncles played affiliated pro-ball (Twins and Reds). My grandmother played professional baseball in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. My dad was a college head baseball coach.

Rick Riddle

Appleton Legends, Head Coach

I have known Tony for a number of years and have coached him for five years as a member of our Appleton Legends team. Tony is an outstanding baseball player who has played a number of positions for us, all at a high level. His baseball IQ is outstanding as are his baseball skills. More importantly, Tony is an awesome young man who exhibits high work ethic and demonstrates leadership through his actions on and off the field. Tony would be a tremendous asset to any baseball team as a player and/or coach.

Tony is the kind of player that all coaches love to have. He is one of our captains, tough as nails and a relentless worker. You will not find a more high character student athlete than Tony.

He is also a major asset between the lines. He is a plus thrower behind the plate and can really block. He has worked on his receiving to the point that it is a strength.

Offensively, he is a tough out from the left side. His swing can get a little stiff but he counters that by doing a great job managing the strike zone. He is really strong and has big raw power to right field but only gets to it occasionally in games. I think he could hit for more power as a pro than he has in college.

Overall, Tony is a high level player. He has had some light draft interest but is a little old for the affiliated clubs. He could walk into Indy ball in the USA but he is a bright young man and the thought of going overseas interests him. I could not recommend him more highly — I would coach him another 10 years if I could.
