Personal

Tom Signore has been a professional baseball coach for over 22 years at the collegiate level and within affiliated baseball.

In the early 90’s he spent 6 years coaching at every level of collegiate baseball in the U.S. with stops at Onondaga Community College, Flagler College, Quinnipiac College and Western Connecticut State University.

Tom got his first affiliated coaching gig in 1997 with the Montreal Expos as the pitching coach for the Vermont Expos. He remained within the Expos systems until 2002 when he accepted a job with the Florida Marlins and worked within their organization until 2004. In 2005 he was named the pitching coach of the Auburn Doubledays which are part of the Toronto Blue Jays system. He remained with the Blue Jays organization until he was hired by the New York Mets in 2011 as the pitching coach for their AAA affiliate, the Las Vegas 51s . He went back to the Blue Jays AA affiliate the New Hampshire Fisher Cats for 2012 and 2013 before settling back in with the Mets for 2014 and 2015. Most recently he was with the Pittsburg Pirates in 2016 and 2017.

Tom was named Player Development Coach Of The Year on three different occasions and named as the All-Star Game pitching coach 5 times in various leagues.

As a player, Tom helped Quinnipac College to the 1982 Division II College World Series. In 1985 he spent a year within the Milwaukee Brewers organization where he posted a 4-4 record and a 7.02 era for the Helena Gold Sox of the Pioneer League.

In 2019, Tom signed as a pitching coach with the Rakuten Monkeys of the Chinese Professional Baseball League. Tom has decided to forgo a return to Taiwan and pursue a long term fit in Europe.

Tom is now looking for a change and to bring his wealth of baseball experience and knowledge to lesser known baseball markets around the globe. Although his specialty is pitching, he is very proficient in all areas of the game.  In addition to coaching duties, Tom is very willing to work with the youth of a country to develop the skills necessary to play this great game. An opportunity to work with a national team would be something is would also be very interested in as a longer term commitment is something he is open to.

Tom’s grandparents are Italian and he has recently hired a lawyer to expedite the process of obtaining Italian citizenship. Tom is looking to “spread his knowledge that he has been fortunate to have learned from the best in the game“. Tom has also indicated that he would be glad to help the youngsters in any country he may land in.
