Personal

I pitched at Wesleyan University from 2012 to 2015. Since graduating I have continued pitching for the Bergen Swamp Rats in the NJ Met League and I have had the role of pitching coach for the Swamp Rats 18U team the last three years.

At Wesleyan, I was the closer my Sophomore and Junior seasons and I was able to throw 76 innings in both the rotation and bullpen my Senior year finishing with a 8-1 record, 4 saves, and a 1.53 ERA. I was awarded NESCAC Pitcher of the Year as well as d3baseball.com 1st Team All-New England and Honorable Mention All-American my last season. After graduation I took a corporate job, but I continued to pitch successfully in a local competitive semi-pro league in NJ. The highlight of my time pitching post-graduation was when I struck out 31 hitters in 16 innings this past summer (https://www.instagram.com/p/BlquKvIhiKn/). I throw a 4 and 2-seam fastball in the mid-high 80s from a 3/4 arm slot. My changeup is my go to out pitch and my curveball is also a good breaking pitch.

Abilities summary: Mid to high 80s fastball. Plus changeup and curveball.

Sammy Elias is one of the nicest and best baseball players I’ve had the pleasure to play with. He was voted League MVP in his last year of college baseball, and our league is considered the most competitive Division III League in the nation. He’s an excellent pitcher with great control and 3 quality pitchers. He’s a righty with good run on his fastball, which is mid-80’s, the best change up I’ve ever seen, and a quality curveball too. More than anything, he’s a fearless competitor who is never phased by an opposition. He would certainly be a great addition to any team both as a pitcher and coach, as he has a lot of experience coaching back in the US as well. Sam also possesses a great knowledge of the game and utilizes this in his pitching, making him and even smarter pitcher.
