Personal

As a left-handed pitcher and closer, Roemello fastball velocity ranges from the mid to high 80s (mph).  The velocity ranges of his other pitches – 2-seam: 86-88, change-up: 80-83, curveball: 75-76. Setup or closer all the way up to his sophomore year of college. Converted into a two-way player during his junior year and earned a save against what was at the time the #1 NAIA team in the country.

At the plate, he has good power and can make consistent contact.  His average exit velocity is in the mid-90s (mph), and the velocity of his throws from the outfield averages around 90 (mph).

Roemello describes himself as a “lead-by-example type of player and a positive vocal guy when my team is facing adversity. I am the type who shows up early before the game to get in extra work, and who stays after the game to work on areas that need it.  I’m the first to help a teammate that needs something, and I work to get to know my teammates outside of baseball.”

Doug Latta, a hitting coach, and MLB/MiLB mentor, says Roemello, “is dedicated to improving himself on and off the field. He is constantly seeking out information and always looking to learn about the game at every level. He has a team-centric approach, understanding the importance of a player’s role [in] complementing the team framework. He has handled adversity well and always expresses himself in a positive manner. I am certain that he will give 110% to any team or club he plays for.”

Career Highlights

  • Consistently good on-base percentages throughout his career, ranging from .300 to mid-.400s

  • Posted .448 on-base percentage at the NAIA level in 2020

Overseas Goals

Roemello says, “With my playing experience and the knowledge and experience I’ve gained while working as an understudy to MLB/MiLB hitting consultants in the Los Angeles, Seattle, and Arizona areas, I can help develop young players and help increase interest in the game globally.

Staying in Shape

Covid-19 ended Roemello’s senior season of college baseball in 2020.  In the meantime, he has been working out three days a week and hitting four days a week.  Roemello says, “I’ve been taking live at-bats at my former junior college and have also been traveling every other month to Los Angeles to work with my hitting coach, Doug Latta.”

Coaching

Roemello has been the hitting coach for a 13-and-under team, as well as a summer travel team.  He has also worked several years as a private hitting coach for high-school players.  He has a very disciplined and simple coaching style.  He says, “I try to build a bond with each individual to help him develop as a player and a person.  I work to help hitters understand what works for them.  I help them understand how the body moves so they can build a foundation swing from the ground up.”

The Ballyard, MLB/MiLB Consultant

I have had the opportunity to work with Romi Rinehart retooling his swing and helping him reach that next level as a hitter. This young man is dedicated to imposing himself on and off the field. He is constantly seeking out information and always looking to learn about the game at every level. He has a team concentric approach, understanding the importance of a player's role complementing the team framework. He has handled adversity well, both on and off the field, and always expresses himself in a positive manner. I am certain that he will give 110% to any team or club he plays for, and his commitment and positivity will be an inspiration to his teammates and coaches.

Respectfully submitted,

Doug Latta

Forest Weaver

Pitching Coach and College Teammate

Romi is a hard-nosed gritty player. He loves the game and is always ready for his opportunity to make an impact. He is a great teammate, team player, and dugout guy I was happy to have him in my corner. As a teammate in college he earned my respect pushing through a tough season with me, he approached each game with the same passion and drive even though we were already eliminated from playoff contention. He also actively worked to help struggling teammates retool swings/approaches at the plate to find success. On the field he leaves it all out there, he’s the guy laying out full-extension to make plays and at the plate he isn’t giving away any at-bats. He always provided a tough AB for the pitcher with the ability to work the count to get on base or go gap to gap with some pop. Romi is constantly working and studying to improve his craft at the plate and on defense. He is a true student of the game. With the knowledge he has and the character/integrity he brings any team will benefit from having him around. He will show the young guys how to go about business and be a leader for the team to look to. He is passionate about baseball and loves sharing his knowledge with his teammates. I have no doubt Romi will make a huge impact on the field as a player, in the dugout, and as a coach in the team's organization. He will grow their game at each level they have.
