Personal
Rey is an outfielder who has good gap-to-gap power, plate discipline and bat control. He consistently has high on-base percentages. Defensively, he has good speed, having run the 60-yard dash in as little as 6.9 seconds. He mostly plays right field, but he can play the other two outfield positions, as well. He has good footwork and a quick release on his throws.
In addition, he has experience as a relief pitcher in high school and summer league competition, so he can help a club on the mound, as well.
As a teammate, Rey is very supportive, positive and encouraging. He is a lead-by-example type of player, but he can be vocal when necessary. He consistently puts in extra work before and after practices and always looks to help his teammates in every way possible.
He works out and trains daily to stay in top condition. He hits as many as 300 pitches a day off the machine, throws and runs regularly, and studies the game extensively.
In addition, he has youth coaching experience and would interested in assisting a club’s coaching staff.
