Personal

At the plate, Oscar has a good combination of power and the ability to make consistent contact and reach base at a high rate.  A high percentage of hits are for extra bases, and he also has enough speed to take the extra base when the opportunity presents itself.  The exit velocity on his hits averages around 100 (mph).

Defensively, he has primarily been a first baseman and third baseman, but he can also slot in at second base and the outfield when necessary.  In 2021, he was named the best utility player among players in Division I colleges in Texas, so he is a versatile player.  His throws from infield positions range in the mid-80s (mph).

Oscar brings a lot of energy and excitement to a club. He says, “I’m the kind of guy who loves going to the ball park every day to get myself and teammates better.”  He is a lead-by-example type who has fun playing the game and works to keep his teammates loose in tight situations. He is a hard worker – always one to arrive early and leave late.  “You can always get better,” he said.  “Repetition and consistency are key.”

Through the off-season, Oscar continues to work hard – working in the batting cage every day and combining that with a running and weight-training program.

Getting out of my comfort zone will help me get through any challenges that are thrown at me in life.”
