Personal

Nick is a lead-off type hitter who has a good eye for the strike zone, good plate coverage, and makes consistent contact.  He is a line-drive hitter with good power to the gaps and doesn’t strike out a lot.

He can either play in the infield, the outfield, slot in as a catcher, or pitch.  He played mostly at catcher in 2021 and 2022, and he is a good pitch-caller and blocker.  In the outfield, he has a strong arm and good instincts for the ball. In 2023 he played a majority of his innings at second base, third base, and shortstop. As a pitcher, he is a strike-thrower who pitches to contact and keeps hitters off balance by changing speeds.  He features a fastball that ranges in the low 80s (mph), change-up, curve, and slider.

As a teammate, Nick likes to stay loose and help keep his teammates that way, but he takes the game very seriously and consistently puts in extra work.  He communicates well with others on the team and is a vocal leader when necessary.  He is very amenable to helping teammates put in extra work, as well.

He has a lot of coaching experience, and he would be excited about helping a club’s coaching staff.  He has been a youth instructor, an assistant coach (running practices and working with individual players) at the high school level, and manager of an adult men’s league team.

Testimonials

Scott Smith

Victoria Eagles, Assistant Coach

Tanner Hess

Vancouver Island University, Assistant Coach

I grew up playing with Nick and went to the same college as him for a year as well. His baseball IQ is what stands out the most for him as a player. He always worked hard and along with his high IQ he turned into a great pitcher at the college level. He was one of my best teammates and I’m sure he’s still the same way. He would be an asset as a player or a coach to any team.
