Personal

Nick has good power at the plate, along with the patience to work pitchers deep into counts.  He is a good two-strike hitter, and he has good plate discipline, not often chasing pitches out of the strike zone.  He has good speed on the base paths and can take the extra base when the opportunity arises.

Shortstop is Nick’s primary position, but he also has good experience at second base and third base and can also pitch and play in the outfield.  So he adds quite a bit of flexibility to a roster.

Nick is a very hard worker, always willing to put in the extra work necessary to improve his game.  He is a very positive teammate who consistently puts team goals ahead of individual ones.  He says he “is always eager to get extra hitting in the cage or get in more work defensively.  I’m always happy to help teammates in any way I can – anything to help the team get better.”

He has served as an instructor at youth camps, a volunteer coach at the high-school level, and an assistant coach for a softball team.  He would be very interested in leveraging his experience to assist a club’s coaching staff.  He says, “I bring knowledge and a passion for the game.  I’m able to assess talent, and I understand what is needed to get players to mesh into a team.”

Jeremy Kapstein, formerly in operations for MLB’s Baltimore Orioles, says, “Nick is a great teammate and a gifted player who is highly motivated to excel.  He has great baseball and people judgement, and he excels both as a player and team leader.”

Geoff Freeborn

Sidearm Nation, Coach/Creator

I had the pleasure of having Nick on my 2019 World Port Tournament team and was a great player to have! Nick was an awesome team player, that could play all positions if needed. Competitor at the plate, not afraid to get on base anyway he can and do what was needed to move the runner over. Great teammate who got along with everyone. Nick would definitely be a solid pickup for any team!

Greg Frady

Georgetown Hoyas Baseball Coach; Former German National Team Coach

I am recommending Nick DiBenedetto for any baseball team in Europe. Nick played on Team North America where I managed the club a few years ago. I got to see him play and know him on a personal level. Nick is a wonderful teammate and strong competitor on the field. He can play a variety of defensive positions, but his bat is the strenght. He comes from a baseball family and loves the game! Nick will make a good addition to any team.
