DEFENSIVELY: An athletic 6’4″ 220 lb first baseman with great range and a reliable defensive glove who takes great pride in being skillful at his position. Possesses a high baseball I.Q. and understands game situations better than most players. Has the ability to pick most balls out of the dirt as well as stay down on difficult ground balls and has tremendous leaping ability. Uses a strong arm to throw across the infield and has success nailing runners from the outfield. 85+ mph throwing across the diamond and from the OF.
OFFENSIVELY: Hits for tremendous power AND average. Most recent college coach, Greg Ritchie (former Pittsburgh Pirates hitting coach) worked to adjust hitting stance to a more upright approach. Exit velo has been measured on Rapsodo as high as 112mph at various launch angles and distances well over 410 feet. Consistently hit over 105-110mph exit velo with wood bat in the Pioneer League. Good foot speed for a big man and has been clocked at 6.99 seconds in 60-yard dash and recently HOME to 1B in 3.74 seconds on a successful bunt attempt against Delaware in the 2023 season (see 2023 highlights video.)
Gained experience playing corner outfield in addition to first base (mostly Right Field, but can also play Left Field) through innings in Summer and Spring ball. Uses his plus speed for a player his size to accurately track fly balls.
A confident player well-liked by his teammates who thoroughly enjoy being around him in practice and in the dugout. Likes to keep energy level high during games to help encourage his teammates. A leader on and off the field, fits in well with any group of players and does his best to bring out the best in his fellow players. A competitive athlete who loves to win, but most importantly loves to give 100 percent effort in every game situation.

Overseas Goals
Having completed his first professional baseball season with the Idaho Falls Chukars under Manager Dave Clark (former MLB manager of Astros, All Star player with Indians, Tigers) and Bob Milacki (former MLB pitcher with Baltimore Orioles) Kohn is looking to advance his career further into professional baseball. Prior to the summer of 2023 in the Pioneer League where he was a top team contributor, Kohn completed his best collegiate season competing at a very high level against several nationally ranked teams including East Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Wake Forest. When asked about his motivation for wanting to play ball overseas, Kohn said, “I see baseball as an incredible vehicle to help me be an ambassador of the sport not only in the US but in other countries as well. It would be an honor to help non-American players learn the love of the game that I have enjoyed since I was 5 or 6 years old and just learned how to throw a ball.” Kohn has several summers of experience teaching and coaching youth at local baseball camps and clinics put on by the local high school and a local organization called 5-Tool Baseball. He’s gained great experience learning how to work with young kids and how to translate his knowledge of the game down to the younger players’ level in a way that they enjoy. Currently down under in Brisbane, Australia Kohn looks forward to furthering his professional career and traveling around the globe. A driving force behind his thirst for travel is that he was not able to do a semester abroad during college like both of his older brothers were able to do (both studied in Australia.) He is confident that he can help a professional team in another country achieve a championship and beyond while also helping to develop the youth in the neighboring communities adopt a love for the great American pastime of baseball. Competing at a professional level and working in the community, bringing joy to fans in other parts of the world Kohn sees as a win-win-win scenario. Playing year round and going from the US or Europe to Down Under during opposite seasons would be a privilege and a welcome opportunity for Kohn who very much would like to participate in the Australian Baseball League in the Winter while trying to earn a free agent contract with an affiliated Minor League Baseball team and beyond in the Spring/Summer back in the US. Kohn has traveled to New Zealand, Australia and Colombia, South America home of his oldest brother who lives in Medellin. He enjoys experiencing the many cultures of the world. Kohn commented, “I see baseball as a great way to enjoy life, meet new people in different cultures, spread the love of the game and help teams win at a high level. I want to advance my career and experience other cultures along the way with the goal of landing on an affiliated MiLB team and continuing to improve, earning my way into the Major League.”
