Personal

Matthew offers versatility to a team.  He is primarily a relief pitcher and centerfielder, but he also has experience at third base, catcher and right field.  In addition, he has experience as a youth coach that he can offer a club.

As a pitcher, his velocity ranges in the mid to high-80s – occasionally hitting 90 (mph). He features a four-seam fastball, two-seam fastball, circle change-up, slider and 12-6 curveball.

As a position player, the velocity on Matthew’s throws range in the low- to mid-90s (mph) from the outfield and from the high-80s to 90 across the diamond.

At the plate, the exit velocity (as seen on HitTrax in his Google Drive folder) on his hits ranges from the low-90s to 100 (mph) from both sides of the plate.

He has run the 60-yard dash in 6.8 seconds I run a 6.8 60 yard dash, and his speed is an advantage when stealing bases, tracking down fly balls and getting to ground balls.

Matthew describes himself as “a fun individual who likes to spend time learning about others. I care about the well-being of my teammates and make the effort to get to know everyone so we can all work together. I have been known as the comedian and the “glue” to many previous teams because of my personality. But I am also very hardworking and love to work with guys outside of practice time. I will usually be the first and last person on the field.”

Overseas Goals

Matthew already has an overseas playing experience, and that whetted his appetite for another.  He says he “would love to continue my career overseas, as I am already familiar with the experience and enjoy the level of play internationally. I want to help expand baseball worldwide and prove that investing in imported players is worth it. I want to set an example and be a great teammate who can help not only win games but put a spotlight on baseball overseas.”
