Personal
As a catcher with professional experience, I bring a high IQ when it comes to overall defense especially pitch calling and throwing out runners. A low poptime of 1.84 in-game and 83 mph to second base.
As a hitter, I bring efficiency when it comes to starting rallies and taking great at bats to put myself in scoring position. Also with a mentality of spreading the ball around the field to move runners.
Most of my career I’ve been a catcher only. But, when needed I’ve played 1B and 3B to cover the necessities of the team. As a hot corners secondary position player, I bring the reaction and ground cover to make plays for the team by sacrificing the body to make an out, helping the pitcher out. Gained some infield experience while being with HOF Roberto Alomar on the winter league team.
As a teammate, I bring the energy and the desire to motivate my brothers into getting on that field and giving their all as individuals so we can work as a strong team. Even when not in the lineup, I take care of my brothers by talking them into staying focused in the game. I like to lead by example so others can also take the role and make the team greater. In my spare time I love to get extra work done with teammates, helping each other in defense/offense to make the team better and creating a bigger bond between us teammates.
Career highlights
Was the starting catcher of my college team as a freshman. Got invited to Texas Rangers private workout and Anaheim Angels private workout. Finished my 2023-2024 single A season in Puerto Rico as team captain with a career high batting avg. of .417.
Coaching
As a coach, I could bring the trust to the players on out-working everyone to make them greater people and a better baseball players. My philosophy in coaching is to make the player trust himself and trust his teammates.
Overseas Goals
I want to take my career overseas so I can expand my professional opportunities as a player. I also seek to expand my experience/ resume as a professional player and learn different cultures inside the sport.
I’ve been working on my body, making myself leaner and stronger to stay as an everyday healthy catcher. I’ve been working my defense overall especially framing which is the most important trait of catchers nowadays. As for my offense, I’ve been working with Ex Colorado Rockies minor leaguer Enrique Melendez who serves as a hitting/strength coach in Puerto Rico.

While being there I still played in the scrimmages against MLB pitchers and position players such as Edwin Diaz, Christian Vazquez, Martin Maldonado, Didi Gregarious, etc. Learned and gained more professional experience by being part of the team. |

I rotated games with the other catcher. Had a great defensive season, throwing out runners at second such as Pedro Martinez Jr. and Garret Sheffield. Got contacted by the Arizona Diamondbacks scout because of my avg poptime and accurate throws to second base with the ability of calling a professional game. |

Luis Cosme
Roberto Clemente Winter League, Assistant Coach
From my experience of coaching and watching Luis develop in the field, I can say he is a complete catcher defensively. He has a great mentality and decisions when calling a game, in addition to that Lopez possesses great communication with his pitchers as he is also a bilingual player, talking English and Spanish. Lopez is a catcher that does not hesitate to use his strong arm to throw to all bases with accuracy, also his blocking abilities are very good as he blocks balls in the dirt even when no runners are on base. While being in RA12 he also showed a strong framing performance working questionable pitches into strikes helping out his pitchers. As for the offensive side of Lopez, he showed some power to all fields and surprisingly a good speed when running the bases, not often seen from a catcher. Lopez showed to be a catcher who can hit and help out a team as another strong batter in the lineup. While being in the Roberto Clemente Professional winter league in Puerto Rico he averaged a poptime of 1.82-1.88 in scrimmages with an 81-84mph arm strength as a catcher. Overall, Luis is a great addition to any professional team overseas who are in need of a strong catcher with experience.
Troy Whitty
Ogden Raptors and Saranac Lake, Bullpen Coach
Luis López is a great example of how a pro baseball player should conduct themselves, I was fortunate enough to play and coach in MLB partner leagues and I think Luis has the right attitude and goes about his business on and off the field with integrity. He also is perfect for the new school of baseball being young, talented, upcoming but also experienced, with leadership, the ability to work hard, listen and constantly improve! I think he would be a great pick for a baseball job and I wish him the best.
Jackson Dekker
Saranac Lake Surge, Pitcher/Teammate
I met Luis this past June while playing in the Empire League where we were battery mates for our time there. It was a pleasure to throw to him as he’s very athletic behind the plate with a great arm. Also being a student of the game he always had a game plan and was adaptive to the situation he was put in. He is also very composed at the plate with some good pop to all fields. One of the most well rounded players I’ve had the pleasure of sharing a field with, always ready to compete and would be a good addition to any team.
