Lou is primarily a first baseman, but she can also play third base, the outfield and pitcher, so she adds a lot of flexibility to a club’s roster.

At the plate, she has good power and drives in runs.  Her exit velocity ranges into the low 80s (mph).   She did not pitch in college, but she did in high school and was good at moving the ball around and changing speeds to keep hitters off balance.  Her primary pitches are a drop and a change-up.

Lou leads by example but can vocal when necessary.  She is good at keeping her teammates loose, while doing whatever else she can to help the club.  She is the type who will come early to practice and stay late in order to get in extra work.

She also is interested in assisting a club’s coaching staff.  She has youth coaching experience in her background and wants to be a coach when her playing career is over.

Devyn Howard

Teammate at Liberty University

I believe that Lou Allan will be a great fit overseas. Playing with her for only a year, I can tell you that she is a very determined and hardworking individual. Ever since she has stepped foot into this Liberty softball program, she has shown great advances as a leader both vocally and by example. She is a great teammate, pushing me to do my best as she does hers. Her softball IQ is very high. We talk about speed, agility, as well as plays that aren’t very likely to happen just in case they do happen to have everybody on the same page. I have enjoyed this last year working with her both on and off the field. She has a very caring personality, making sure my mental health, as well as that of our teammates, is as good as my physical health and I really appreciate that. Lou has helped this program tremendously and I know for sure the program has helped her as well as a human being.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
