Personal

Libby hits for both power and average and particularly stands out in high-pressure situations.  Her past coaches would label her as the player to “get the job done.” She has power to all fields. As a catcher, she works well with pitchers and is an excellent leader who projects calm in clutch situations. She prides herself on the relationships she’s been able to build with her pitchers. She loves to learn their strengths and tendencies in order to effectively pitch call.

Defensively, she has primarily been a catcher, but she has the athleticism to play other positions.  As a younger player, she played at a variety of spots including the corners.

She prides herself on being a supportive teammate, saying, “Even if I’m not having my best game, I will be the first one to pump someone up for doing something awesome. I’m constantly cheering and supporting. I am a leader by example. People feed off my positive energy. As a catcher this is important because the whole field reads your energy in high intensity situations. I also love working with teammates. On my Italian team, I got to work with some of the players and I loved it! It was such a good feeling when they would come to me and ask for advice.”

Libby also would be interested in assisting a team’s coaching staff.  She has a good eye for detail and is very good at explaining things in ways that people understand. She says, “I like to break swings down to the basics because softball is such a detail-oriented sport.” Her passion outside of playing is coaching.

She works out daily in the off season and also trains to keep her softball skills sharp.

Gordon Eakin, Co-Head Coach at Brigham Young University, says, “Libby is a great softball player but even a better person. She has great softball instincts and is a coach on the field. She is a coach’s dream.”

Testimonials

Gordon Eakin

BYU Softball Co-Head Coach

Libby is a great softball player but even a better person. She has great softball instincts and is a coach on the field. She is a coach's dream. Libby is humble and coachable. She always has the team's best interest in mind. Libby is responsible, accountable and works very hard. I would recommend Libby for any venture she wants to pursue. I wished I had more Libby Suggs on my team or in my organization.

Peter Meredith

BYU Softball Co-Head Coach; Former New Zealand Black Sox Pitcher

Where do you start with Libby Sugg? This young lady talks the talk and walks the walk. She was our starting catcher for 4 years and supplied great energy and understanding of the game with a mature presence on the defensive side of the field. Offensively she a pitchers nightmare, hitting with power and average. Having recognized her for her outstanding playing ability, one of Libby’s best qualities is who she is as a person: honest, sincere and hardworking.

Libby would be a great addition to any organization.
