Personal

  1. Student of the game with both playing and coaching experience. Was a highly recruited high school shortstop, considered a top 500 prospect in the nation and ranked as 15th SS in the state and 87th in the nation by Perfect Game. Selected for the Area Code games as a member of the Northern California A’s. Chosen as MVP of the North-South Series in California. Committed to Santa Clara University on a baseball scholarship. Underwent bilateral hip surgery as a SR in high school and missed entire senior year. Battled back to play through injuries first two years of college and would undergo a third hip surgery and a shoulder surgery, and miss JR and SR year. Was still selected as 4 year member of leadership council at SCU despite not being on the field. Graduated and fought hard to return to the field again to finish out my eligibility at Cal State University Monterey Bay. During this time I began training under Paul Cater, a strength and conditioning coach for the Baltimore Orioles. I became the healthiest and strongest I had ever been and learned how to prepare and care for the body throughout the course of a season. Would go on to become an All-Conference and All West-Region Player and help lead my team to back to back Regional Appearances. I am a versatile infielder who can handle the bat and hit at the top of the order. I have been a natural leader and respected by teammates and coaches my entire career. I can offer valuable knowledge about the fundamentals and mechanics of the game, as well as strength and conditioning and health and well-being. I would love to help spread the love for this great game, while passing on some of my experiences and learning from others’.

Abilities summary: Athletic middle infielder with knowledge and a feel for the game. Competitive hitter with control of the zone. Works consistent quality at-bats with a good walk to strikeout ratio. Can drive the ball to all fields. Can hit for power and contact. Aggressive baserunner with ability to steal bases.

Overseas goals: Extend my career a little longer before hanging them up, Use overseas as a stepping stone into professional ball in the U.S., Experience new cultures and meet new people, Use my knowledge and experience to help grow the game globally, Gain coaching experience

David Bifano

Monterey Bay Pirates, Head Coach

I’ve known Kyle since he was 8 years old. I was fortunate enough to have him on my first Monterey Bay Pirates team when he was 10 years old. Even at 10 years old he was a hard worker and fierce competitor who loved the game of baseball. Those qualities have not changed they have only gotten more pronounced. I’m sure that you are aware of his many baseball accomplishments. There are almost too many to list. I’m writing you to comment on Kyle as a person. Kyle is a born leader. He is one of those rare people that makes everyone around him better through his hard work, tireless preparation and total commitment to his team. Due to the way he carries himself and his level of play he commands respect from everyone around him. He will spend countless hours working with and helping teammates. He will drive everyone to strive to be better by his example. He now coaches and helps to run the Monterey Bay Pirates. He is the most sought after and respected coach in our organization. The players and the parents adore him. The impact he is having on our players is immeasurable and will benefit these young men for the rest of their lives. In closing I want you to know that there is no one that I would recommend over Kyle. He has a very bright future and will be an asset to any organization that is lucky enough to have him.

Evan Brisentine

Santa Clara University, teammate

Kyle Czaplak was my college teammate at Santa Clara University for two years. He is a perfect infield utility with some pop from the left side of the plate. He is a fun guy to be around, responsible, and business-like when he needs to be. I have also seen him as a youth baseball coach as we worked together during college, and he is great with kids. He has great knowledge of the game and a great work ethic.
