Kevin has good power at the plate, with average exit velocity from 105-107 mph, and he also has enough speed to take the extra base and be a base-stealing threat. He has posted a best time of 6.68 seconds in the 60-yard dash.
He has good arm strength, as well, with average velocity on throws across the diamond ranging in the mid-90s (mph).
He has primarily been a shortstop, but he can play any infield position and also has enough athleticism to play the outfield when necessary.
Kevin describes himself as a “high-energy guy who loves to fly around the diamond. Teammates gravitate toward me when struggling, and I enjoy helping others.”

Higgs is a strong athletic young man who gets along with everyone. He tried to play thru some broken ribs his last year at SBU and it affected his final numbers. His metrics are all on a pro level and he would have had an opportunity to play at that level with a healthy 2021. He is a class kid with off the chart work ethic.
Kevin is looking to continue his baseball career as a professional overseas. Kevin would have been drafted in Major League Baseballs' draft if it was still 40 rounds long. Kevin is a true SS with the ability to play all over the field. Kevin was a 3 Year Started at St. Bonaventure D1. Kevin is durable and loves the game. Kevin has flashed all the tools he hits for Average, Power, plays plus Defense, has a strong Arm, and runs well. Kevin hits well to all fields and steals bases. Kevin's friendly demeanor and electric style of play make him a fan favorite.
Kevin Higgins came to the Newark Pilots this summer and was instantly accepted as the team leader. Kevin has very good baseball skills both fielding as our full time shortstop and batting. He has great baseball instincts. Somehow Kevin gets to ground balls that appear to be going for hits and turns them into outs. He has very good range as a middle infielder. At the plate Kevin has good hands, stays back and is a very patient hitter. He has come through for us in clutch situations this summer, notably beating a rival team with a first inning grand slam. But most importantly, Kevin is a very polite, respectful young man who will represent his country admirably overseas. Kevin Higgins is a great baseball prospect for any team.
