Ketch Marsh is a 5 foot 11, INF/OF originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. Ketch split his college career between Southwestern University in Texas, and finished at Whittier College playing in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). In the summer of 2016 Ketch began his international career with the Vienna Emperors (Austria) in the CBLE where he has played mainly outfield for the Emperors and had an outstanding season at the plate hitting .342 with an obp of .435.

In the summer of 2017 Ketch took his career once again overseas as a player-coach for the Rattvik Butchers of the Swedish first division, leading them to the championship series. Ketch then spent the winter of 2017-2018 playing in Queensland, Australia where he finished the season tied for the league lead in home runs with 6 (leaderboard link). In 2018 Ketch returned to the Butchers where he hit .342 and was selected to play in the league’s All-Star game.

Former teammate in Sweden and fellow import, Evan Opperman summed it up the best below in the testimonial section about Ketch’s value to a team overseas. More than just a player or a coach, Ketch is known to go above and beyond his contractual duties for any club that brings him on. This led Ketch to be recognized as the 7th best coach on IBC’s Top 15 Coaches Overseas https://baseballjobsoverseas.com/top-15-coaches-2018/?fbclid=IwAR2Yaitat7LeXyBkIcB4svP9yCbGMb_mZSuqFawFG3sGjmCAVi0iHiHiGsU

In Sweden, on his own accord Ketch recruited five new players to the club, volunteered to go to schools for the youth program and continues today to help his former team find new import players for the upcoming season. He also guided young talented Swedish players on how to go about taking their career to the next level in the U.S.

His former coach at Whittier college had this to say about Ketch:

“Ketchum Marsh is a great kid with outstanding character and work ethic! He was one of the hardest working student-athletes that I have had the pleasure of coaching in a 30-year career. His teammates looked up to him and respected him, as did the entire coaching staff.”

Ketch is now looking for a club for the 2018-19 season in Australia, New Zealand, South America, South Africa, and Asia and is open to coaching in addition to playing. He would prefer to live with a host family.

Mike Rizzo

Head Coach, Whittier

"Ketchum Marsh is a great kid with outstanding character and work ethic! Ketch transferred to our program and arrived when we were very deep at the outfield position and therefore had limited playing time. Despite not playing regularly, Ketch was one of the hardest working student-athletes that I have had the pleasure of coaching in a 30-year career. He always gave 100% in whatever drill we were working on. His teammates looked up to him and respected him, as did the entire coaching staff. He has worked extremely hard on his defense and has an above average throwing arm. He is a very good fastball hitter with plus bat speed and power potential. Ketch has a genuine love for the game and will be a positive influence on any program that obtains his services. Please feel free to contact me should you require additional information on Ketch! Thanks! Mike"

Evan Opperman

Teammate and fellow IBC import with Rattvik

"I saw the IBC coaching rankings this week and I just wanted to put a quick word in for my guy Ketchum. While it’s difficult for you to get a true scope of Ketch's efforts except from direct personal reports like this one, and I understand it’s difficult to quantify coaches with anything besides a win/loss record (for the IBC ranking), I think his impact in Rattvik went much deeper than just the team’s final performance.  First, he went into local schools to teach baseball to non-English speaking kids to try to generate interest in the sport in our area. He didn’t get paid any extra to do this and simply wanted to help get kids engaged with our club and with baseball over the summer.  Second, he found ways to get people in town interested in our club team. From recruiting 4 to 5 new players during the course of the season from Rattvik and from the US, to partnering with some local busineses (yoga studios, car mechanics, etc.) to generate support for our team in exchange for referrals and advertisements, our town was extremely engaged with our club than.  Lastly, he’s going above and beyond after the season is finished to help some Swedish players with US Collegiate aspirations to attend recruiting camps in the US. Even though we didn’t win the Elite Series championship, we still finished with I think his impact on the area was deep."
