Personal
Jaron Dorchinez recently finished up his second season overseas playing in the Austrian first division where he has established himself as a legit. two-way player and league offensive leader with the ability to contribute also as a coach.
Jaron was a two year starting shortstop at Adams State University (NCAA II) from 2013 to 2015 and in his senior season hit a whopping .386 with an OBP of .458, both good enough for a top 10 conference ranking.
Shortstop is his primary position but Jaron also has experience playing third base and second base. He can also play the outfield and pitch in relief if needed. In addition to pitching in Austria, Jaron pitches for his men’s league team in the U.S., throwing in the mid/high 80’s, complemented by a change and curve. In his first season in Austria he did not see many innings as their import pitcher was very durable and would throw complete games, making it more sense for Jaron to stay at SS. In his second season he saw more innings on the bump with a new team, highlighted by a complete game performance in the playoffs where he surrendered only 1 run in the win.
Jaron has hit switch his whole life and is comfortable from both sides of the plate.
Jaron also has extensive coaching experience having taken on head coaching roles at the highschool level in recent years. He is passionate about coaching and is looking to gain more experience coaching at a higher level.
Jaron on why he wants to continue his career overseas:
“I played two-and-a-half seasons already in Austria and loved it. Also, I would like to coach baseball at a higher level than high school and this is one way to further my understanding of the game and gain experience.”
Any club seeking a shortstop with a middle-of-the-order bat who can also assume a role as player-coach is encouraged to reach out to Jaron with any expressions of interest.
