Personal
Jacob is a gap-to-gap hitter who gives quality at bats and doesn’t strike out a lot. His exit velocity off live pitching ranges in the high 90s (mph) and the mid-90s off the tee.
Defensively, he has good speed and good instincts at all three outfield positions. He gets good reads and good jumps on the ball. His arm strength is good, as the velocity on his throws is consistently in the low 90s.
Jacob also served as a starting pitcher and reliever in both high school and college. He features a fast ball, slider and cutter. The velocity on his fast ball ranges from the high 90s to low 90s, and his off-speed pitches are in the 70s with good spin rate on the slider.
He is a very energetic, supportive teammate with a positive outlook who gets along well with others and works hard to build strong relationships.
Jacob continues to train on a regular basis to be ready for opportunities. He participates in live scrimmages each week. “I also take live at bats against other minor and major league players at the gym, and have been focusing a lot on my cardio.”
