Personal

I have overseas experience in the Japan Winter League (November-December 2024) where I have pitched in the advanced division against hitters from the MiLB and NPB as well as high-level independent pros.

I throw a 2 seam fastball at 90-92 miles per hour, with a slider and a change up.  I can also throw curveball if needed.

I lead by example and am a positive vocal leader.  I am an all out energy guy who loves the game and everything about pitching, both mental and physical.  I spend a lot of time outside of practice working on my skills and strength.  I have mentored new players and will throw with any teammate whenever they ask.  My teammates and I have a mutual respect for each other.  The coach looks to me to set a tone of hard work and perseverance while still having fun.

To attest to my athleticism, I played for many years in the outfield and was a high average hitter. But I became a PO in college.

Career highlights

My most recent accomplishment is winning the Northwoods League championship, as well as being team captain for the last 2 years for my college team and posting 9 saves in the spring of 2022 year.  I am also proud of being on the PacWest scholar-athlete list for the last 4 years.

Overseas Goals

I want to play baseball at the next level, as well as get to explore new opportunities and new places.

I loved every minute of living in Hawaii and playing baseball.  Learning about the culture and people have accentuated my college experience. Living and playing in Japan for the JWL, I was able to have another great experience in baseball, meeting and pitching against people from over 14 different countries.

My dream is to play at the next level, and continue to grow as a pitcher and person!

I have continuously trained and competed since college.

Phil Leftwich

Pitching Coach, former professional baseball player

Jake is a very interesting young man and player. I have known him and coached him as a private instructor since he was around 9-10 years old. He has always been a really athletic, strong kid that played with 100% effort and energy. Sometimes those high energy players don’t translate perfectly to the mound but Jake uses that aggressive makeup really well and has made himself into a quality pitcher. Watching him work I also see that he hasn’t reached his peak. His best days are still ahead. He has above average stuff now with length and movement. His stuff will make him valuable, but his aggressiveness and bulldog mentality will make him irreplaceable. You’re getting a quality young man and an ultra competitive player that’s still trending upwards.

I'm excited to see what Jake can do.

Valley Christian High School, Coach

Jake Liberta is second to none. I had the great opportunity to coach and watch him develop as a outstanding HS prep player at Valley Christian High in Chandler, AZ. Jake has a passion for the game that measures up to his competitiveness. He is extremely athletic which made him our centerfielder, pitcher, and leadoff hitter. There was not a day that went by that Jake was not pushing himself to get better which in turn earned him Arizona All-State Honors. But what I appreciate about Jake was his great character on and off the field. He was and still is admired by so many at VCHS. He does not carry himself as one who is arrogant, but one with a humble confidence who knows he can get the job done that is admired by many. Even at the college level he signs every future baseball player’s ball.

Whoever picks up Jake on their roster will not be disappointed. They will get someone sold out to the game but also sold out to the community in which he wears the uniform.
