Personal

I am very valuable as a contact hitter. I have quick hands and good pitch recognition, which makes me very difficult to strike out. I take pride in my ability to hit all pitch types in all locations. My level swing does not yield many homeruns, however, I can drive the ball from gap to gap with authority for extra-base hits and have had my exit velocity clocked as high as 93 miles per hour off a tee. I consider myself to have average speed but I am a smart baserunner and can read pitchers very well to get favorable jumps on stolen base attempts.

As a fielder I am very sure-handed and make few fielding errors. My infield velocity has been clocked as high as 87 miles per hour. My most important skill as an infielder is my ability to get rid of the ball very quickly while still making accurate throws, this gives me the ability to easily throw out faster runners without being rushed into a bad throw. It also allows me more freedom to pick favorable hops, knowing that It will take me very little time to make a throw.

I have plenty of experience at each of my secondary positions. I have actually played more innings at shortstop in my life compared to second base however at the professional level, I believe that I would project better as a 2nd baseman. I have played at least a full season at shortstop, 2nd base and 3rd base for various teams.

My best attribute as a teammate is my ability to stay level-headed throughout the highs and lows of a game or a season. I will be able to help keep myself and others on track to focus on the team’s long-term goal of winning a championship, and players’ goals of becoming the best possible versions of themselves.

Career highlights

In 2023 for the William & Mary Club baseball team of the NCBA, I was named the All-Mid Atlantic 2nd team shortstop. The Mid-Atlantic region consisted of 15 teams. That season, I batted .448/.500/.569 with 26 hits and 18 RBI in 15 games. I only struck out twice in 64 plate appearances.

The previous season in 2022, for William & Mary, as both a player and the Head Coach, I was named the All-Mid-Atlantic 1st team shortstop. I batted .391/.462/.478 with 26 hits and 8 stolen bases in 18 games. I only struck out 3 times in 69 plate appearances.

In my career at William & Mary in 266 plate appearances, I batted .391/.462/.504 with 26 walks compared to only 9 strikeouts.

In 2020 in the American Legion baseball summer league, in 69 plate appearances, I batted .522/.602/.739 with 36 hits and 11 doubles. In three seasons playing American Legion baseball I batted .471/.549/.605 with 105 hits and 33 walks and only 6 strikeouts.

From the final four games of the 2018 American Legion season through the end of the 2020 season. I hit safely in 47 consecutive games and reached base with a hit or walk in all 59 American Legion games that I played in:

For Mclean High School in Mclean, VA. I was named to the Washington Post All-Met 2nd team in 2019. I batted .477 with 31 hits and 12 walks against only four strikeouts.

Overseas Goals

I am looking to gain professional experience and develop my skills in hopes of earning a professional contract in an American league. I believe that I can be successful at the professional level and want to realize my full potential.

I have been playing for an 18+ wood bat league in Washington, DC to stay in shape. The league is called DC Wood and it consists of many former collegiate and professional players from around the DMV area who are looking to continue playing baseball at a competitive level.

Jackson Kantor is a relentless competitor, a fantastic teammate and more importantly, an all around great person. Coaching Jackson was a pleasure; he knows the game so well and shares that wisdom with all around him. He has a naturally disarming personality that allows him to lead his peers in a positive way. On the defensive side he is a phenomenal infielder with great hands an accurate arm, and plus instincts and game sense. On the offensive side he is just a barrel machine and a tough out. He has more power than his stature suggests and is relentless in the box, rarely striking out. Any organization would be lucky to have Jackson the person and Jackson the ballplayer on their team.

Colby Bestick

William & Mary Club Baseball, president/head coach

He is probably one of the most complete players that I ever got the chance to play with/coach for. His excellent glove work and range along with his outstanding bat-to-ball skills really defined his time as an elite player in the league. Whenever Jackson came to the plate, we always knew that he would be driving in some runs for our team and helping us excel as a program. Jackson will be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever play for William and Mary and deserves each and every opportunity to extend his playing career with the hard work and dedication he puts, not only to himself, but also to the game of baseball.
