Personal
Eric is an extremely versatile player, having played every position during his collegiate career. Primary positions have been shortstop, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, catcher, and pitcher. In his current season, he has filled in at first base a lot after the regular first-baseman was injured. He then caught the second half of the season. Hit a hole in one at the age of ten in golf, threw his first no-hitter at the age of 13, and led the league in interceptions in football as a senior in High School.
After his first season playing overseas in a strong semi-pro league in Quebec, Canada, the Assistant GM had the following to say of Eric:
Eric came to us out of college to play in our very experienced Quebec Major Baseball League. His versatility gave us a lot of options but we chose to put him at SS for pretty much his whole stay here. Even though our home stadium is an extremely tough place to play defensively, Eric settled as one of the best defensive infielders in the whole league. His range and arm were really impressive. He made some plays I had never seen being made in my 8 years in the league. Offensively, Eric showed he could perform at a high level. After a very short period of adjustments, he stayed pretty consistent throughout the regular season, and he peaked during our 13 games playoff run. He’s a solid gap to gap hitter that knows the zone well. In our league, many hitters will pad their stats against the 3rd or 4th starters, but Eric stayed consistent even against the league’s top pitching. He handled the higher velo (86-92) really well. He even hit a homerun against a former big league pitcher. Now the most important thing, Eric is a good guy. He never gave us any issues on or off the field. He played with pride and with just the right amount of fire and he bought in what we were trying to do. This is not a generic recommendation… we’ve had some good and bad experiences with imports here in St-Jean. But Eric’s stay was a success and if the stars aligned again, we would GLADLY welcome him back. If not, we wish him the very best for his future opportunities.

Eric Towsley is a talented baseball player. He is also a great teammate and person that fits into any club house. I coached Eric at East Central University in his Senior year there. He played multiple positions for us on a team that was depleted with injuries. He filled in those spots and that position didn’t miss a beat because of Eric. I believe one of his best strengths as a player is his arm strength. Therefore he can be used behind the plate or honestly wherever the team needs him. I believe this makes Eric a valuable asset in the baseball world because of his unique skill set to play really anywhere on the baseball field.
With the bat in his hand, Eric produces solid power. With every day playing experience I believe his hitting will improve even more than what we saw at ECU. All in all, I truly believe Eric is a good player that with even more experience will continue to get better wherever he plays.
It is my extreme pleasure to recommend Eric Towsley, A young man of extreme talent and versatility. As a coach that has watched him serve as a player on our baseball team, I have grown to appreciate his ability to deal with mature situations and high expectations at a young age. This is a quality seldom observed in young people.
Eric is a mature, dedicated, and disciplined athlete. As a leader he was fair, thoughtful and consistent in dealings with his teammates, yet willing to make himself heard when the situation calls for "being heard". Eric is an enthusiastic person who has the ability to stimulate his teammates to realize that success relates to personal goals and achievement.
Eric is a very versatile player who has the ability to help a team at many different positions. With the ability to adapt and learn quickly, Eric was put in many positions and performed above expectations. His ability to move from position to position, and adapt from high school baseball to legion baseball to collegiate baseball is a credit to his athletic ability.
As a human being, Eric is polite and respectful of others, has a profound sense of positive values and has well-thought-out life goals.
Eric displayed poise and leadership before, during, and after a game, win or lose. With the influence of athletic competition, commitment to academic achievement, the influence of a strong family, and the ability to perform at a high level, I believe that Eric is and will continue to be an outstanding baseball player and member of the community.
I recommend Eric to anybody categorically and enthusiastically.
You want him in your program!
I have known Eric since he was in little league. He has been a talented baseball player his whole life. He was a 3 year Varsity starter for me at multiple positions, and was a big contributor to our success. I am very proud of the work that he has put in to extend his baseball career and love for the game. In all of the levels thus far, he has demonstrated the ability to get the most out of his opportunities. That in itself is why I would recommend he be given serious consideration to continue his career in Europe. I believe that he will have success at the next level and will make himself, as well as the team, better. Eric is a talented athlete and has paved his path through work and dedication!
Please give this young man your greatest consideration!
