Personal

Ed hits for both power and average, and he consistently has high on-base percentages.   He has above-average speed, having posted a time of 6.8 seconds in the 60-yard dash, which gives him an advantage on the base paths and in the outfield.  As an outfielder, he has a plus arm and good ball-tracking ability.

In addition, he is versatile defensively – able to play all three outfield positions, as well as first base and third base – so he adds flexibility to a roster.

Ed is a very supportive teammate who leads by example but can be vocal when necessary.  He consistently puts in extra work in the quest for continual improvement.  He continues to work out and train regularly to be ready for any opportunities.

Loren Torres

Point Park University, Head Coach

I am writing this letter to recommend you Ed Pfluger. Please consider the following comments to be the highest recommendation for a former student-athlete of mine that I could give. I have been coaching collegiate baseball for twenty-five years and I have known the applicant for six years now. I judge him to be an exceptional candidate for professional baseball. I truly believe that if it was not for the pandemic, Ed would have drafted in the regular MLB draft.

I have had many opportunities to observe his performance. He continually maintains his integrity while attending to the many responsibilities that are his. You only have to speak with him for a short period of time to realize his commitment to success. His wisdom in both athletics and life were valuable to his teammates and our team as a whole both on and off the field. Also, Ed is a man of strong conviction and he has a wonderful sense of humor. He is intense but controlled in competition yet has a gentle and warm spirit in conversation.

I am confident that Ed will perform well if provided an opportunity. As a leader, he is driven by excellence. He works hard to surround himself with outstanding individuals, challenges them and equips them with the necessary tools to be successful in their role. On the baseball side, Ed has plus power, speed, and arm, a major league average glove and potential to hit for high average. He is fun to watch and will produce sucess for any team that gives him a chance.

There will never be a question about the importance of his love for his family, friends, and the commitment to the duties that he serves.

Rocky Capobianco

Point Park University, Associate Head Coach

Ed is one of the most hardworking, dedicated players that I’ve worked with. His desire to win, get better everyday, and do whatever it takes for the team is what made him such a great captain. Ed brings a high level Baseball IQ to the table which helped him be a very good baserunner and defender on top of the great hitter that he was during his career at Point Park.

Tyler Dobie

Point Park University, Assistant Hitting/Infield Coach

Ed Pfluger is one of the hardest workers I know, always doing the little things outside of practice to ensure he gets the best results out of himself. After practice you can find Ed taking extra rounds off the tee by himself or finding the extra time to get in the gym to make sure he’s keeping his body right. On the field you can expect a leader, a player with high baseball IQ, someone who wears his heart on his sleeve and will do anything for the betterment of the team. He hits for power, uses his contact to control the gaps, and sees the ball well. He’s a guy that people want on their team.
