Personal

90mph exit velo from both sides, 6.6 seconds 60yd dash.

All of my secondary positions I have experienced during the 2018 season, every other season was shortstop.

Lead by example, always willing to help teammates when struggling with mechanics. Love talking about baseball scenarios to increase baseball IQ.

Career highlights

  • Conference Champion 2018
  • All-tournament team 2018 NJCAA d3
  • 2024 team leader in SLG/HR/3B/RBI

Coaching

I bring a lead by example approach, I’ve played the game for 20 years and studied the game for 15 improving my knowledge while sharing it along the way, my coaching style is a layed back approach where I let players make a mistake and give immediate feedback in order to avoid the same mistakes.

Overseas Goals

I wanna take the next step in my career, I’m ready to make baseball the main priority after god and just looking for that one opportunity to help whatever team I’m on improve and win.

Testimonials

David Lee

Former MLB pitcher for (COL,CLE,SDP), travel team coach

First of all Doug Johnson can play. He plays shortstop. He makes all the routine plays and all the tough ones too. He is an athlete. He can play anywhere basically but excels at shortstop. Can pitch as well and not afraid of any moment. Good heads up ball player that has baseball I instincts that you can’t teach.

At the plate has good gap power that ball consistently goes out. Switch hits and makes solid contact and quality at bats. He is a terror on the base paths. He is a game wrecker. When he is up he puts pressure on the defense and makes pitchers on opposing teams worry about him.

He is a great teammate, leader, winner, and a guy you want on your team. He is not afraid of anything and you want him when big moments in the game because he comes through.

Doug is really talented. As good as he is on the field. He is a better person off it. Comes from a great family.

Doug has played for me for 5 years. I am recommending Doug for any team. He will make that team better and you will win.

My qualification as a reference is that I played in the MLB for 5 seasons, 1999-2004. Rockies, Padres and Indians.

Joe Burger

Mens league coach

Douglas or “Dougie“ as we call him on the team is, I believe, our most valuable player, and we are just not the same team without him. From his incredible work ethic, his contagious smile and character and the way he encourages others along with his exemplary skills, offensively and defensively in my 30+ years of coaching, I have not come across too many players like a Douglas Johnson. Furthermore, his knowledge of the game and Douglas’s baseball IQ is second to none. I can honestly say that he would be a great addition to any team at this level.
