Personal

Destini has good power at the plate but is also a very good contact hitter, consistently posting high on-base percentages and striking out at a low rate.

She has excellent speed, has successfully stolen a base in 84 of 89 career attempts, and is a good baserunner.  Her speed is a big asset in the outfield, where she is able to run down balls others often cannot.  She has primarily been a centerfielder but has played all three outfield positions, as well as shortstop, so she brings versatility to a club’s roster.

Destini describes herself as a “team-first” player. “I put my team before my own needs and put my teammates’ accomplishments above my own. I lead not only by example but vocally when it is needed. I strive to challenge my teammates to be the absolute best they can be.”

She has youth coaching experience and would be interested in assisting a club’s coaching staff.

Testimonials

Brian Levin

The University of Southern Mississippi, Head Coach and Former Akron Racer Head Coach

I have coached softball at the collegiate level for 12 years and professionally in the NPF for a few years, and I can say that I have not seen or coached a more gifted player than Destini Brown. We are always looking for a true 5 tool player. Destini is as close to that as a coach can get. The more impressive aspect beside her playing ability is her character. You will not find a better all-around person. If I was drafting a team, Destini would be at the top of the list.

Mark Mulvany

The University of Southern Mississippi, Assistant Coach

Destini Brown may be the top defensive centerfielder in college softball. She is pure excitement on the softball field and represents our organization to our fan base with class and humility. She is the Ken Griffey Jr. of college softball. Having experience as a Major League Baseball scout, I can say that Destini Brown is the equivalent of a 1st round draft pick in baseball.
