I’m a pitcher who was very familiar with the starting and closing role. In college and professionally, I would close a game and then start the other. My velocity has been up to 93.  After 5 years off I sit 84-86 now. My slider and change up were both plus pitches. Those were my bread and butter and why I struck out so many guys. With what I know now as a Collegiate Pitching Coach and S&C coach, I can only be better than I was 5 years ago. My arm has never felt better and will only continue to get better.

As a hitter I was a 3-5 hole hitter. I swung it well in college and hit .485.

I was a Gold Glove infielder. And have the utmost confidence in myself to perform at any level. One place where I can be at my best is between the lines. I hit .485 in college and I still swing to this day consistently. Being a pitcher actually has helped my hitting. One thing I lacked in HS was an approach. Becoming a better pitcher has allowed me to develop an approach in the box.

I believe I’m the best teammate. I was the leader of both my college team and pro organization. I’m vocal, lead by example, and bring energy. I love the game of baseball. I love to share the knowledge I’ve been blessed with from being coached by former big leaguers. Baseball has always been fun to me and I’m super competitive, but also keep it fun. Jokes are needed in the dugout. Focus is needed on the field. The dugout is a place for guys to stay loose. No time for “pity parties” in there.

Career highlights

Became an All Star professionally. Perfect record professionally. Gold Glove College. All Conference Pitcher. Winning organizations everywhere I played.

I bring inspiration to the table. Anyone can coach when the glass is full of water. It’s all about how we can refill that glass when it’s empty. Leadership and belief in our guys. Just because there was a bad stretch doesn’t mean we can’t get better. We all start as average baseball players. It’s what we can do to make each individual believe in themselves. Baseball IQ is very high. The game moves extremely slow to me.

Overseas Goals

I want to mainly come overseas to play the game I love and manage if fortunate enough. I’ve worked with kids and adults. I want to share knowledge and grow the game. Sightseeing is something I would enjoy, but in all honesty I’m looking to win championships with organizations.

I’ve been coaching college baseball, throwing live to hitters, doing film work with pitchers, throwing programs, lifting, etc. I’m around it every day and sometimes have to show our players how it’s done.

David Steele was the heartbeat of our program. David was an extremely hard worker and extremely competitive; put those two attributes together and you have a very passionate player who worked for greatness. His goal was to play at the next level and no one could take that away from him. David’s achievements were many and he was respected by all for his passion for the game of baseball. The University of Rio Grande is very thankful to have had David as a part of our baseball history and very proud to call him one of our own!

Dave is one of the most genuine guys I know. He is the definition of a competitor and always wants to work hard to make the most of his opportunities. He is very driven and will do everything he can to better his teammates, the organization, and himself. He has tremendous ability and no matter what he has attacked in life he has succeeded in some facet.
