Personal

PLAYER

Plus runner. A lot of experience as a lead-off hitter, but will accept and take on any role in the batting order. Gap-to-gap hitter who has the ability to hit home runs, will use the whole field, can bunt and hit behind the runner. Defensively: played a lot of shortstop while playing overseas, but I can effectively play 2B, 3B or any OF position.

As a player I will…

  • Give a professional at-bat.
  • Steal bases.
  • Bring range and reliability on defense.

COACH

My energy is geared towards helping players/teams approach baseball with a sense of confidence. I approach this concept with four main influences I know I can provide:

Preparation

I believe expectations should be in line with the planning and training leading up to when it’s time to perform. Whichever strategy or outcome is desired, a large portion of my energy and focus will be put towards training. I believe when players/a team is engaged in consistently improving skills, that is what becomes rewarding, and results are a product of the preparation that came before.

Player Development

I feel fortunate to have either played, coached, or done both, in 8 different countries. In doing so I have had the privilege of playing/working with, and playing for a variety of different people within different cultures. This has provided me with a solid foundational background in baseball and exposure to different approaches and ways of thinking. I will use both physical and mental training tools with the goal of what has always been one of my favorite aspects about being a player: developing skills, and can do so at both the youth and adult level appropriately.

Speed Training

From 2013-2017 I worked at a training facility called the Parisi Speed School in Bristol, Connecticut in the United States. Here I learned the fundamentals of sprinting mechanics and have carried those techniques with me. It is a conditioning program I like to use with the goal of establishing three things in particular: 1) create a sense of energy, 2) prepare players to handle the physical stress of a season (this pertains to adults: designed for position players as a pre/early-season program), and 3) have it translate into an aggressive mindset for base running: one of the larger aspects which decides winning and losing games.

Mental Skills

With respect to age, there will be time dedicated to breathing, visualization, and reflection exercises in order to help the mind help the body in terms of overall performance.

***YOUTH COACHING: having spent significant time in Austria, I can speak a respectable level of German and can comfortably run youth practices in German.
