Personal

Open to a player role or player-manager role.

David is a very athletic, dynamic player with exceptional speed on the base paths and the ability to hit another gear when going for extra bases. His years working at the Parisi Speed School has allowed him to maximize his best asset on the ball field, his ability to run. His speed and ability to get quick reads allow him to cover major league level ground in the outfield, and his range in the middle infield is equally impressive.

At the dish, David possesses all the tools to be a leadoff hitter in any league overseas while also packing middle-of-the-order power. As can be seen in his accolades and stats below, he is a highly versatile player who is capable of producing in just about all ways offensively.

As a coach, not only can David help a team take their running game to a whole new level, he is also very adept as a hitting coach, and in the defensive aspect of the game. David is also experienced and very capable of taking on the difficult challenge of player-manager. He is someone who enjoys the day in, day out process of helping a team and individual players progress. He is organized and possesses a strong passion for the game, which when combined with his dedication to the role, has proven thus far to be a productive formula.

Abilities summary: Athletic, fast, gap to gap hitter with power, well above average defender who can play multiple positions.

Testimonials

David Burns

Coach and teammate, Attnang-Puchheim Athletics
dburns@baseballjobsoverseas.com

David Brandt completely surpassed our expectations, not only as a player but as a coach as well. When asked to step in and play shortstop, something he hadn't done for a while, he worked relentlessly at the position and ended up being one of the best shortstops I have played with in my career. His range was exceptional and it earned him the Gold Glove at the position. With the stick he led the league from day one and never looked back. By season-end he was the offensive leader in almost every category. We had him leading off but he just as easily could have been our clean-up hitter power-wise. However with his speed leading off made the most sense. Of his 35 hits, 18 of them were for extra bases but it didn't really matter because a single was almost an automatic double anyway. He inspired others through his hard-nosed gritty play. He never took a pitch off and was covered in dirt head-to-toe every game. What is even more impressive is that he accomplished all of this while also coaching the team. He would spend hours at our apartment planning and thinking about how to make the team better. It is no surprise we went from worst to first under Dave's watch.

He's one of the fastest guys I've seen in a long long time, and I have managed and coached in the Can Am and Atlantic Leagues, therefore I've seen my share of guys in Dave's situation. If I was still managing I would bring Dave on as one of our rookies in the Can Am league and I wouldn't think twice about it. I believe he’d be great overseas with the opportunity to play. He can play the OF well and IF well. Super athlete, a good kid, great work ethic. You can’t go wrong with Dave and he was also an excellent instructor in our facilities at Diamond Kings Baseball Academy. Really bright guy.
