Personal
Fastest recorded pop time 1.84, but it is usually mid 1.9’s offensive catcher who can receive, manage a staff, control the running game and hit for average and execute on offense. Late in my career the power started to come through with home runs. I am a very good baserunner and my 60 yd dash is usually around a 7.3. I also have been coaching in my first year out of college in the Arizona Junior College league at Glendale Community College. It is extremely competitive and I work with players in all aspects of the game, specializing as our catching coach and I work alot with hitters and baserunners as well as call the game for the pitcher and catcher. My catchers have increased their pop times from 2.2 to right around 2.0 since we began working together and also have much better body awareness. I also help organize/ plan practice and do some recruiting all in my first year coaching.
Growing up i played every position and as a catcher I have to know whats going on all over the field all the time. I have very good hands which helps in the infield. I am fairly athletic as a catcher and this helps me be able to throw sidearm from second base when necessary as well as third base. I can play shortstop if I had to but im sure there are other athletes on the field that are more athletic and faster than myself. My arm stands out on the field do to having to throw from behind the plate so much.
I am a very selfless teammate who will do whatever it takes to win. With that being said I like to push those around me to try and get the most out of them. I am very good at talking to pitchers and getting them to become as confident as possible. I have learned a-lot in my first year of coaching and as somebody who thought they were hanging up the cleats I now realize I am more than capable of playing and the knowledge gained throughout coaching will greatly impact me as a player who can help spread knowledge to those around him. As a player in college I made my living off of hard work and dedication. I devoted myself to learning as much about the swing as possible to try and get better. I trained very hard in every offseason on catching, my swing, and the weight room. I am not a giant on the field but my talent was all due to the hard work put in off the field. With that being said I was always happy to hit with others and help them with any questions they could have had on their swing. I value the process in everything I do in life.
