Personal

Cortney is a very strong defensive catcher.  She had just one passed ball in her previous two seasons and did not commit an error in her last season.  She has a strong throwing arm, which hinders opponents’ running games.

Defensively, she also has experience in right field, so she offers some versatility to a club.  She played rightfield her senior year in high school and made the all-conference team, and she has also regularly trained in the outfield during her collegiate career.  Her throwing arm is an asset in the outfield, and she tracks balls well.

Cortney is the type of player who is very focused and a supportive teammate.  “I’m a confident catcher and make teams better by using my voice to lead,” she says.  “I lead by example and help my teammates whenever needed, whether that’s extra pitches in bullpen sessions or providing emotional support.”

She is also open to working at camps and clinics staged by a club.

Penny Foore

Bethel University, Head Coach

Cortney is the epitome of a leader. As a catcher, she commands the game and leads our pitchers and defense in such a way it is like having a coach on the field at all times. Since she has had extra years of eligibility due to COVID, it has been very rewarding to have the extra years and see her growth and maturity. She is an asset to any team on the field, and an even better person off the field.

John Jenson

Bethel University, Assistant Coach/Catching Coach

I’ve coached Cortney the past three years at Bethel University (MN). She plays at an elite level and is one of the best defensive catchers in NCAA D3 Softball (receiving, throwing, blocking). She’s been a leader and an integral part of Bethel’s success the last two years (2022 & 2023 MIAC Conference Champions, 2022 & 2023 NCAA Super Regional Participant).

Cortney always comes to practice ready to go to work. She has a positive and dominant presence on the field. I admire her passion and knowledge of the game. She’s always willing to share her ideas and help with the younger catchers on the team.

In short, Bethel University is a stronger program because of Cortney’s involvement due to all of the qualities that I have mentioned above. I can confidently recommend Cortney and hope that she can be a part of a new team overseas next season.

Rich Hanson

Clutch Hitters (Club Team, Bloomington, MN), 18U Head Coach

Cortney played two years under me in 2017 and 2018, and she is a warrior. Outstanding catcher then, and has gotten so much better over the last few years in her college career. I say warrior because she plays hurt, and will never come out of a game unless she is forced to. She absolutely loves the game.

Cortney is a team player who will be one of your loudest cheerleaders on the team. She will do anything you ask of her. Cortney was brought up with high morals by her family. You will not find a more respectful person than Cortney. She is definitely Captain material and a leader. There would be nobody disappointed to have her on their team. Cortney, along with her sister Kayla, were voted into our Clutch Hitters Elite Hall of Fame back in 2022.
