Personal

Sinker, Cutter, Slider, Change. 87-89 on cutter/sinker.

Catcher in high school, can play corner infield. Hitting .333 in 12 ABs in Pecos as a career PO.

I’m a player-coach per my high schools coach. I love to help coach my teammates mentally and help with small adjustments. I retired for 10 years and gave up on my dream after 2014. Started throwing 3 months ago and working out. I was 304 LBs, and couldn’t throw 90 ft. Now I am playing in the Pecos and have carved out a starting role. I’m the ultimate competitor with the dream of being the next “old guy” that makes it. I will not be out-worked, and will never take a day for granted after 10 years of working jobs without passion.

Career highlights

In first pro start after 10 year retirement, 6 innings no-hit vs 2nd place team in league.
2013 NAIA World Series Missouri Baptist University.

Coaching

I have a unique mentality focusing on mentoring players where they are at and not completely changing players to fit a mold. I coach mentality and aggressiveness and coach with an “attack first” perspective.

Overseas Goals

I think it’s the next step and opens more doors. I also think I can give back to baseball as a whole and inspire people with my story. Why the dream is never dead and offer a unique perspective on the game.

3 months ago I couldn’t run a mile, now I run 20-25 miles a week and lift 4-5 times, I am working harder than I did in college because I wasted my opportunity then. You will not find someone who is willing to out-work me.

Chris Kyricaou

Bishop O’Dowd High School coach

Chris Kenney has been a story of perseverance since I met him as a 5'4" ninth grader in 2006. He was a smart player, but physically challenged. We kept him on the freshman team and we were very glad that we did. By the time his senior year rolled around, he was a 6'2" pitcher on a state ranked team. He was our number two starter and led the team in wins. Two other pitchers on our team were Eric Jaffe, who threw 93 miles an hour and went to UCLA on scholarship and Joe Ross, a first round pick of the San Diego Padres, currently a starting pitcher with the Milwaukee Brewers. Chris had success at Chabot Junior College and then had a good experience at Missouri Baptist. For most people, that would be a good career and they would call it quits. If Chris Kinney is motivated to keep going, I would not bet against him.
