Personal
Greetings! My name is Cedric Holt “CJ”, I am a power hitting corner infielder and my primary positions are first base and designated hitter however I can play third base as well.
I have a 101.3 mile per hour average exit velocity, I have home run power to all fields and I pride myself on being a slugging corner infielder who can change the game with one swing at any time. As a hitter I have a up the middle, back side approach, which allows my bat path to stay clean through the zone at all times. My mindset at the plate is to drive in runners in scoring position with hard doubles in the gap as well as advance runners from first to third with strong at bats with consistent loud contact. Also at the plate I will execute on what the team needs most, whether it be a double off the wall or a deep sacrifice fly to tie the game, my mentality is always team success first which equals victories.
As an infielder, at first base I have a “ball first” mentality and I always attack the ball. I never allow the ball to play me off of the hop, and I always pride myself on being agile around the bag. As a first baseman I understand that keeping the ball infront of you and making sure your team can trust throwing the ball to you is important. I have above average athleticism at first base, whether I have to jump off the bag and tag the runner or whether I have to make a strong diving play to knock down a hot shot, I can do whatever the team needs.
At third base I have an above average glove which allows me to work through the baseball consistently, I pride myself in making accurate throws across the diamond to my first baseman. I believe that making the simple play wins championships. A strong gather and throw with a firm follow through with every throw is how I operate. I also pride myself in being a student of the game. I constantly calculate the tendencies of every batter during the game. In college I prided myself in studying pitchers and infielder tendencies.
As a secondary third baseman and DH, I pride myself in being extremely consistent offensively. I attribute my hitting ability to my work ethic which is second to none. Being able to play both corners has taught me the similarities and differences of both corners of the infield and this has allowed me to play both fluidity and consistently at a high level.
As a teammate, I always pride myself in working with all of my teammates no matter the skill level differential. As a team we are a family and we all depend on each other. If a player is struggling offensively and I can see what he is doing wrong, I will come to him and workout with him after and before practice. As well as fielding: if a player is struggling defensively I will help him with his mechanical issues. I am a “team first” ball player which allows me to build a bond with my teammates as brothers. I also pride myself on holding my teammates to a championship standard and nothing less than that, we all should have one common goal and that should be to win a championship. Whatever team I am chosen to I can guarantee practices will be competitive, and the bar will be held high on every player. At Clark Atlanta, I thrived off of competition with my teammates, we constantly practiced hard and believed in the saying, “iron sharpens iron.” I am also a highly respectful and positive teammate both on the field and in the locker room. If one of my teammates are saddened due to their performance, I will assure them that we have to have a short term memory because the next play is coming your way.
On the field I am constantly communicating amongst my infield, allowing me to position my fielders in the right directions and always keeping the game loose and fun. While also fighting for the win, I have a mentality that goes like this: “Work like a servant but know you’re a king”, one swing, one throw, one run at a time.”

Overseas Goals
I want to take my career overseas to not only live my dream of playing professional baseball, but to also see baseball in different avenues and in different countries. This sport is a blessing and the ability to be able to play this game on an international level is a blessing. I cherish every day I am able to lace up my spikes and compete with my teammates, very few ball players are allowed to take their talents to a higher level after college. I never take any day for granted I am willing to sacrifice everything on the diamond. The blood sweat and tears I have carried while playing this game in the United States was amazing however I cannot wait to take my talents overseas to help my teammates win and compete everyday.
My workout regimen is as follows: I will lift weights Monday, Wednesday and Friday out of the week. And I will work on conditioning and speed as well as footwork, hitting and baseball-related activity Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I have live at bats with a former teammate who played with me a Clark Atlanta 4 times a month so I can still see live pitching. Hitting in the cages is a big portion of my development and keeping my mental game sharp. My hitting routine consists of 80 swings off the tee on the outside, middle, and inside part of the plate. After that I will go 50 swings front toss, working up the middle and backside, working on driving the ball with power the other way. Then I will go to the machine taking 70 to 85 swings off the machine at 90 plus mph. I consistently work on being simple and staying firm through the ball. I also pride myself on working on the breaking ball machine heavily throughout this workout which allows me to see the ball from both the right and left side simulating both pitchers lefties and righties. With the fielding portion of my workout I start with a light stretch and ankle strengthening exercise. This allows me to resist injury and reduce the chance of pulls and tears during my agility portion of my workout. I will start off with 100 ground balls having to pop off the bag while holding the runner on and having to make a strong throw to second. After I will take 200 ground balls playing normal depth and giving the pitcher a firm flip as he covers the bag. Then I will end my fielding and speed day with 50 ground balls deep in the hole making a strong throw to third base.
